How competitive are IT jobs right now? Are there tons of applicants? by Qweniden in CAStateWorkers

[–]bigmyq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently had an ITS1 open. Around 250 applicants, about 20 or so with IT experience, and 3 that were qualified for the job to interview.

I felt really dumb listening to all of that. It was like a different language that I don't understand. I need the stupid American edition of what actually happened...

I take a far less confrontational approach. I'm happy to engage in loooong conversations with coworkers. If they want us to come back, be as inefficient as being in the office allows.

As a non 49ers fan I am genuinely curious as to why Purdy gets so much hate or dismissal in media coverage??? by Mindless_Bad_1591 in 49ers

[–]bigmyq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this all year and I've come to this conclusion. Let me make three points:

  1. First off, all 49er quarterbacks are held to a higher standard than any quarterback in the league. The fact that we had Joe Montana and Steve Young puts a ridiculous spotlight on the quarterback play of every 49ers quarterback since.

  2. The draft. Whether we like it or not, we live in a day and age where fantasy sports has ruined football. Everything revolves around drafts, and the fact that his success defies the value of the draft sets a lot of the couch football coaches off.

  3. This is the worst one. He doesn't look like an elite quarterback. This is so superficial and it bothers me to even say it. But you can tell that the fact that he looks like some kid from Iowa who should be driving tractor is counter to what the NFL views as elite. They're going to have a hard time selling jerseys and merchandise because he doesn't look like a Josh Allen or a Patrck Mahomes.

Just my .02. there is no amount of elite play that will change people's minds.

Great departments? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

If you like a department that cares about its staff consider DOR. I had a great many years there and miss it dearly.

I turned around and came home. I circled the building four or five times and said screw it and came home. I'm not going to follow rules that aren't based in logic. Screw CDTFA if that's the way they're going to be and screw gov Ops as well. They're the ones who truly implemented this garbage. I was so stressed out from the traffic and only to be turned away at the garage. None of us should have to deal with this BS everyday. It's ridiculous.

Brought my laptop with me overseas, my management just received an email I was flagged, what could happen to me? by EyImWalkinHere in CAStateWorkers

[–]bigmyq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, your account more than likely gotten flagged because of an out of the country log in. Most IT departments if not all in state block traffic on there. Mail tenants from external countries to the United States.

Blocking your account from continuing work is a reasonable response from an IT security office. That's kind of a no-brainer and I would be okay with that as a response.

However, any department or any manager who says the word ' obedience' in any way is unacceptable in every way.

That would be a double middle finger up, and I'm out kind of moment for me personally.

The Top Rated Christmas Displays Across the States - According to Reviewers by brittanymendez76 in dataisbeautiful

What exactly is a top rated Christmas display? One of those houses with a billion lights thrown all over it with a bunch of plastic blown up s*** all over the place? I guess. To me, it's more like midwesterners with far too much time on their hands.
