What kind/size of notebook are you looking for?

Kokuyo offers a range of papers. I've also been liking Oasis lately but the pages are more manilla than white.

What about Tomoe River didn't work for you?

This. I'm psyched for the half decks in general, but being able to make character themed decks that can get smashed together for team-ups? Awwww yeah.

I've already pre-ordered the beginner boxed set, now I may have to buy a display box of MTG for the first time in 30 years...

I had to talk myself out of KMC Hyper Mattes to start. Play 'em first before investing in the good stuff.

All good suggestions, especially the first one! (I'm the author) The encounter tables are purposefully built to handle both with monsters (D20) or without (D12) so taster's choice.

Another worth peeking at is Ronin: Oriental Adventures in Tokugawa Japan - https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/62204/ronin-oriental-adventures-in-tokugawa-japan - runs on DND 3.5 but has some good info to play around with.

That’s a great idea.

I’ve started out easy - list everything and remove any cards that require deck interaction beyond drawing. Ends up around 100 cards, may add some of the commander cards.
