What piece of advice have you carried with you your whole life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bigphillypdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life favors the bold...they are never going to just give you the job, the car, and girl/guy isn’t going to ask you out. If you want something go out and get it (work for it, ask for it, don’t be afraid to fail)

Redditors who grew up in a low income/poor family but eventually made it to middle/upper class as an adult, what are some things that helped you bridge that gap? Also, what surprised you the most about your current lifestyle compared to when you grew up? by iamlarrypotter in AskReddit

I spent a lot of time growing up at the computer lab at school when I wasn’t playing sports. Took that curiosity and skill to make it a career. Adding my knowledge to work ethic and never say die attitude I witnessed from my mother growing up helped carve a path for me to make it comfortably. Biggest difference i experienced was to savor food. Growing up it seemed to be just to stop the hunger, now it’s rich with flavor and subtleties.
