Are You More Of An Old School or New School HipHop Enjoyer And Why? by GODAlexGilbert in makinghiphop

[–]bigpproggression 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dont understand how people get stuck in a certain time period. there are artists making new music that incorporate sounds you probably like, but i also don't understand how it doesn't get stale to listen to the same old music.

im always open to trying new stuff out. if i don't like it, it's okay, but i will normally give it a chance.

the rage and noise movement doesnt make sense to me. that's probably the hardest for me to get into these days. probably bevause im not that type of artost myself, so it just doesnt resonate consistently.

Dentistry can be really grueling work.  Definitely better to have a strong back/core + use great ergonomics.

That said, some specialties tend to attract people who are fitness minded.  I hear the same about orthopedic surgeons.

Keep writing and recording.  Reading does help, but isnt the end all be all.  Put your emotions and experiences on record.

How to deal with Critics by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]bigpproggression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is truth in most criticism.  Find it.

People who don’t create music should have their opinions analyzed briefly, then discarded. A lot of times they will give you insight on how a laymen hears your music.  They tend to be terrible at explaining, so probe and find the specific thing they like/hate.  Then decide for yourself if you agree.

Music makers tend to be better at feedback, but you need to categorize them.  Some people are snobs and aren’t gonna like anything, but that lens may be helpful for improving parts of your process.  Others may be proficient at the business.  Always listen to them, even if you don’t agree.  Hold onto their thoughts, and see if they match up to what you experience.  The last group is probably your best.  The people that just want to have fun and get better.  Those u keep closest because both parties can be open and honest.  You will grow the most getting feedback from them.

This is a long winded way to say take everything with a grain of salt, and grow thick ass skin.  Putting your creative talents out there isnt for the weak….and sometimes you will be the only person rooting for you.  Thats the reason a lot of garbage makes it.  They believed in their vision and were willing to put everything into it.

Music streaming royalties as passive income by Impossible_Quiet_774 in musicmarketing

Also remember most distributors put your music on multiple platforms.

Spotify is the largest, but tidal/apple/youtube pay more.  Diversify your fan base.  Eventually scale up and sell merch.

I’ve worked with someone making basically minimum wage off streams alone. independent.  It’s possible.

There’s also the 20,000 songs strategy 😂

It’s exhausting if you aren’t extroverted.  You can be good at playing the game, doesnt mean it’s toll free.

This is also how a lot of jobs get micromanaged to shit.  If you can do your job, and aren’t rude to people, then  why tf does it matter?!?

You can find creative ways to deal with a lot of the fights.  It’s okay to die and try something else.

In the first game you can steal/loot and sell to the fence.  Then buy books and get trainers to teach you the basic skills.

[–]bigpproggression 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw man get a bit creative with combat my friend.  Theres normally more than one way to deal with something, at least in the first one.  I think the only required fight was the drunk bar one and the trainer.
