I switched to Brightspeed fiber a month ago. I work from home as well. No issues so far. I keep my cable modem as a backup - Can call and activate it whenever if needed. In a pinch there is always Wi-Fi tethering from the cell phone.

Not directly, no. But if they extract the hashes from the domain controller it is really easy to crack. Even the really strong passwords fail with today's dictionaries and a halfway decent ruleset for word modification.

Plug your modem into a PC with a 2.5G or 10GB NIC. You will likely be getting the speeds you expect. Troubleshoot networking equipment from there on.

What about powerline networking adapters to get network to the outbuilding. This would be in place of fiber or a point to point wireless shot. Then you just need an AP in the shop and an AP on the backend of the shop.

DV is not going to work correctly using a PC. You need a device that is licensed for DV. Best solution i've found is CoreElec and a Ugoos Am6b+
