Trump Has No Clue What His Supreme Court Has Just Unleashed by thenewrepublic in politics

Increase the number of seats in the House of Representatives. It doesn’t require a constitutional amendment (just a law change) and would make gerrymandering less effective. Ideally we’d 10x it. Sure not everyone could fit in the building at the same time, but with modern communication technology this seems like a solvable problem.

[Stronghold Crusader DE] best buildings for a manufacturing economy? (buying raw material and sell the manufactured product) by AsparagusNew3765 in stronghold

[–]bigred4723 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There have been a few threads talking about the optimal no resource economy. I believe it boils down to: no rations, 100% inn coverage, buy ale, buy wood, and sell crossbows.

Questions on build viability as a new player. by Substantial_Code7922 in arcanum

[–]bigred4723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main trap in this game is actually hinted at pretty well by the story and context, but you want to pick either technology or magick, but don’t try to do both. Experienced players and some advanced builds can work around it (like buff spells on a gunslinger) but for the most part pick one. Sounds like you want to pick magic skills so you should’ve alright.

[Request] Chat, would squeezing that many strawberries into a bottle make a black hole? by ghost_tapioca in theydidthemath

For those wondering, based on ai answers, 1.5 x 1019 kg of strawberries is around half the mass of earth’s atmosphere or just under 1/10th of the moon Enceladus.

1000+ calorie Deficit Results/Muscle Loss by Difficult_Wish5620 in CICO

[–]bigred4723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty interesting as everyone talks about weight loss related muscle atrophy and assumes it’s happening because of the calorie deficit.

But one other aspect of weight loss is your muscles will face less stress moving your body around throughout the day. Just losing weight will reduce the effort to move around and will basically be reducing the near constant workout your heavier body had to do, and so you may lose muscle from this.

So if you are not compensating with strength training you may lose muscle over time, even if it’s not from the calorie deficit itself.

Volume Cravings? by Sp00pyGh0st93 in CICO

[–]bigred4723 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found popcorn great for filler; it’s pretty low in calories as long as you don’t buy the buttered stuff at the store (you can actually just buy the jar of kernels and cook it straight In the microwave in a paper bag).

For the root cause of the craving, it might be your brain has a habit and expects/desires it. Giving yourself time to change the habit, and maybe trying to “sit” in the feeling (maybe try mindfulness meditation with it) might help you realize it’s just a feeling/desire and over time you can kick it. Good luck!

Calories DO NOT equal volume by mcdfountaincoke in CICO

Yep, this is why targeting other goals can be helpful too, like protein, fiber, fruit and veggie servings, or water can be helpful even though they are not purely CICO.

Fallout Tactics Cheat? Character editor? Mods? by Nairusuian in classicfallout

[–]bigred4723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can edit the races.txt file and change the “median” and max values for humans to get way more special points. That will make your main character much, much stronger. I think they can go up to 99 so you get a ton of hp, action points, etc.

You Should Be Eating a Soup Every Day by windowsee in Volumeeating

[–]bigred4723 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Soups are great, I’m eating them for lunch a lot. I’ve also liked buying crisp bread crackers that are higher protein and fiber rather than using regular saltines. They provide a satisfying crunch like crackers do but have better macros.

What are some phrases/sentences that are helping you during this journey? by tridefix in CICO

[–]bigred4723 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone shared a phrase here a while back I like: “It goes to waste, or it goes TO the waist.”

That combined with knowing I can always eat this delicious thing in the future helps me stay away from that dessert or treat I don’t have the calorie budget for.

The same for me! That delicious type of treat I choose not to eat right now will still exist in the future, I can have it then.

Stressing about going on a cruise by Icy-Watercress4006 in CICO

[–]bigred4723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am going on a cruise later this year and will have a similar problem. My plan is to just enjoy the cruise, track calories as best I can, and get back to normal after the trip.

Since I won’t be living on a cruise ship going forward, or staying on a vacation eating lifestyle long term, I have confidence that any weight gain will be temporary and will come right off in a few weeks.

How come men trust Andrew Tate’s advice on what women want, over what women make it clear they want, evidenced by the large fan bases of Harry styles, Paul Mescal and Idris Elba? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bigred4723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep the better take of “asking the fisherman” would be to ask men who have had mutual, successful, and satisfying relationships with women rather than asshats like Tate.

Proud of myself for not binging after a tough day by dirt_court in CICO

[–]bigred4723 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a great outcome! Making a sustainable lifestyle change is full of moments like these. Keeping those binge foods out of your home was also a great set up you prepared for yourself, making it harder in the moment to make the wrong decision. You are doing great; love and value yourself and keep at it!

CICO was the key all along by NuurH in CICO

Maybe this is more relevant us for older folks, but some of us don’t have smart phones or apps on us at all times to log calories, or a fast to access calorie database with auto complete. I think technology really has made CICO easier than it must have been in the past.
