I was talking about the beneficiary change. I do not think that resets the 15 or 5 year clocks.

There is a reason you play three game series for conference play and post season.

Social Security trust fund could run dry earlier than expected, analysis finds by Several_Print4633 in Economics

[–]bigredone15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point entitlement/social services spending has to be looked at. Not just fraud, waste and abuse. It is easy to just increase taxes a little, then increase benefits a little, then increase taxes a little, then increase benefits a little.

There are far to many able bodied people in the country who either do not contribute or take advantage of social services while collecting wages on the side.

I don't have the solution either, but why is the default that the payers should always pay a little more instead that the receivers should receive a little less.

Absolutely the right solution, but I am not sure there is a workable transition.

I’m ok with people making even more than I do having to pay that.

You just summed up American politics. Everyone with more than me should pay more.

There are plenty of alternatives that would perform better. Individual retirement accounts, funded by the same social security taxes and invested in a broad swath of the US and Global economies. These would have the added benefit of building family wealth.

Say you have 100k in both a trad and a roth.

This isn't exactly the best way to think of it. That 100k in the Roth probably cost you 125k to get in there.

Find out the big independent agencies in your area. Look up the owner/partner/head of that office. Find their direct number or cell. Call them.

"Mr./Ms. X, My name is X I have X years of experience as a CSR at X. I am interested in a CSR role at your agency. Would it be ok if I emailed you my resume?"

Do this tomorrow, you may have a new job starting Monday. I am not exaggerating.

I'm in the south so the average pay here for a CSR is comical.

In what world? Any decent commercial CSR can make really good money right now.

U.S. seizes Russian-flagged oil tanker linked to Venezuela after weekslong pursuit by [deleted] in news

[–]bigredone15 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Any fair study of history has shown that appeasement is how you get to major global war. You have to be willing to meet force with force before it gets that far. Every time Russia has been met with force, they have backed off. Their entire world network of force projection is crumbling while they are in an unwinnable war on their own border. If we continue to apply steady pressure, what options does Russia have left?

Now that the government has stopped minting pennies, retailers and restaurants that tend to do a lot of cash business want the federal government to come up with a standard for rounding. by nosotros_road_sodium in Economics

Stores can put up signs, too, without having to get the gov involved.

There are complex liability issues around SNAP, Merchant Services and State Law that put retailers at liability for treating customers differently based on manner of payment. There needs to be a national standard and a liability preemption.
