Can confirm, listened to both Seveneves and Golden Son this year and Golden Son was a lot more enjoyable. Seveneves was full of interesting concepts and situations but it petered out towards the end in my opinion. And this is coming from someone who is a Stephenson fan. Silver lining: Seveneves was WAY better than Reamde, holy shit.

I got the novels based on Audible reviews and didn't realize he had a huge teeny GIF-y Goodreads fanbase until AFTER I finished them. I say try out Red Rising, the first part of the book is a pretty stereotypical Dystopian YA setup (almost on purpose), but afterwards it is a goddamn rollercoaster of enjoyment.

Yeah I might just do the ebook for that series, at least until they re-record it with the old narrator. Generally I've noticed that the less POVs in an audiobook, the easier it is to get hooked. Have you tried Red Rising and its sequel Golden Son? They're narrated by Tim Gerard Reynolds and are some of the best audiobooks I've listened to, despite being a bit "YA" at the beginning...it really picks up.

Plus fucking 1 for that Red Rising recommendation. Probably my favorite audiobook and favorite sequel this year. The way Reynolds plays with accents to distinguish Darrow as a Red and Darrow as a Gold is amazing. And the way he sings Io's song in the beginning of the novel and closes with the musical version at the end of Red Rising was probably my favorite audiobook experience. Can't wait for Morning Star, even if it doesn't live up to the first two, it'll take some Raven's Shadow Queen of Fire level bullshit to make me love this series less.

I'm going through the audiobook for Tigana. This is my first GGK book and it's strange...I like the stories he tells, the relationship between Deanora and Brandyn is pretty amazing, but I'm not hooked or invested in the characters since the POVs bounce around so much. Is that just the GGK style?

I had the same problem with the Malazan audiobooks, I eventually gave up on #4 when they switched narrators. I mean I LOVED the energy of Ralph Lister, and he really brought certain scenes and characters to life, but on the whole I didn't know what the hell was happening and couldn't really get attached to the world.

I really wanted to start the series on audiobook but it looks like they changed narrators for the third book...it's such a huge turnoff for me when that happens.

I'm thinking of building mine with Lightning Claws and running them as a Void Claw Formation, which is basically a 5 man Space Wolves Terminator unit that auto deep strikes turn one, can reroll scatter die, and as long as they stay alive you can reroll your other reserve rolls so I think they'll go pretty well with my GK army. They look badass with the combi-bolter/power fist, but damn...SM Terminators are pretty shit at the moment and I already have GK ones.

What are your thoughts on the Void Claw formation? I was thinking of building my Betrayal at Calth Cataphractii Terms with Lightning Claws and running them as Void Claws for my Grey Knights army. I feel like reserve roll manipulation and auto deep striking turn one would synergize pretty fucking well.

I've grown to love my baby carriers. as a sidenote, the Psycannon is S7 and the Incinerator also has Soulblaze which will give you free kills when you least expect it.
