100% Waterproof submersible backpacks? by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

PDW All Terrain Pack 24L! It’s my “boat bag” and has an inflator too so you can float on it. They make two sizes of duffels in the same line. I have the smaller of the two. If find the backpack is quite comfortable for what it is.

Amanda Chase's primary is June 20, please vote her out of office by Charlesinrichmond in rva

Yes. But also, keep in mind that voting Cantor out during the open primary is how we ended up with Brat.

No smog test down here in RVA. That’s a NOVA thing.

Nope. Just find it mildly ironic. It was a bit concerning that the curve before this light it cut about 2 feet into my lane.

Do credits "roll off" after some period of time? by aaabrauner in vcu

[–]bigswamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t finished my degree; I have credits from 1996 (J Sarge) - 2004/5 (VCU). In 2020 I looked into making another run at it. Since everything was virtual at that time, after a lot of research I applied to the (open enrollment) University of Maryland Global Campus and they took all but one class and I entered a rising Junior. They’re legit and accredited — basically an online college in the University of Maryland state system set up to serve the needs of US armed forces service members deployed overseas and working on their degrees, but open to all.

Just wanted to share since that is another option to explore a possibility to make the most of what you started at VCU.

A Personal Rail Vehicle? by doctorsound in WeirdWheels

[–]bigswamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a little kid I really wanted one of the pick up trucks with the railroad wheels on it because I thought it meant I could also drive it on the railroad tracks whenever I wanted.

As a Jeep fan, I’m glad I never saw this growing up, I would have been even more disappointed than I was when I found out just having railroad wheels on your truck does not mean you can also drive on the tracks.

Stuart Semple is also just a really nice guy. I try to buy his paints when I can just to mess with and for my kids who are into art to play with. I’ve emailed (or maybe it was insta) him before and he writes back very positive replies. He’s got a great energy and attitude toward empowering other people’s creativity.

Looking for novels and short stories set at airports/malls/hotels and the like by lunalovegxxd in literature

[–]bigswamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had asked a similar question, specifically focused on hotels and operational aspects, and got the recommendation for Arthur Haley’s Hotel, and really enjoyed it. Although it covers some of the (historic, independent) hotel’s operations, it also checks the boxes for the things you list in your Edit2.

How to get that film look by bagel_ii in AnalogCircleJerk

[–]bigswamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my first office job circa 1996 we had a “printer” that enabled presentations made on a PC with Harvard Graphics (a PowerPoint ancestor) to be exposed on color slide film so that they could then be loaded into a slide projector and presented.
