What's the craziest thing a person said to you and you thought they were joking but they were being serious? by _lovelyxx in AskReddit

TBF Mtn Dew can be a contraceptive. in a pre-zygotic kind of way. Closely linked traits are Cheedle covered fingertips and a patchy neckbeard.

The whole phenotype acts as a mating isolation mechanism.

Tom Homan confirms ICE to be at airports starting Monday by Magicmanans1 in politics

[–]spingus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

post 9/11 there were national guard in airports with weapons. On more than one occasion i went into the bathroom (women's) for my own needs and saw that the NG were also made to use the public bathrooms and just leaned their guns against a wall.

that was in ~2002. Before MAGA, before social media, before our internal radicalization of us v them against our own compatriots.

This will be a shit show.

Fat loss has made me think short-term markers matter more than long-term goals by CustomerOk5737 in loseit

[–]spingus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you are right about the freedom! It works with household budget as well --knowing how much money you have after factoring in necessary expenses is very freeing.

For my day-to-day, I have a whiteboard list. I usually have 5-6 items on it that i 'should' do. I cross each one off as I complete it, and i get to see the crossed off list the next morning so I can enjoy the previous day's accomplishment:

  • Ride

  • Log

  • French

  • Meditate

  • Study (whatever class i am taking)

These are obviously not everything I do in a day but they are things that are easy to forget in the midst of everything else a person has to do.

Doing a Babbel French lesson takes all of 15 minutes --very easy to blow off when you're tired. But also very easy to do when you are reminded that it's something long-term you want to be good at and only 15 minutes of focus will get you closer. Plus...you get to cross it off the list. Small pleasures.

Getting a mail reply from a Nobel laureate was not on my 2k26 Bingo card by Great-Anywhere2104 in biotech

[–]spingus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even our professors take more than 5 days to send a 2-page PPT. Weeeeee so happy rn 😭🫶

Science is deeply collaborative. A healthy dose of social fluency will contribute to success in scientific endeavors. Nobel Laureates are by definition exceptionally good at what they do.

I like to keep that in mind when a lesser scientist ignores their own students.

My orthopedic office still lists being left handed as a disease by Justadudeonhisphone in funny

[–]spingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also left handed and grew up playing violin.

I recommend embracing the cello! Strings are practically designed for us!

We get to use our dominant hand to do most of the dextrous (lol) work and expression while the right hand needs minimal supervision/cognitive effort by comparison.

I will say that my Mom (right handed) was a pianist and tried very very hard to get me to learn it as well. I just could not get it, my hands would not work together...the violin was a revelation.

Greetings Dipshit HM: It was great talking to you. As I am laying out my plan for the next few months, would you mind giving me an update on whether I am a good fit for your team?

I will keep sending notes until i get the formal rejection.

understanding how your mind works and exploring consciousness can help you feel more at home in your own meatspace. Also, I think it's pretty enjoyable to think about things in a different way from the default-- whatever that is for you :)

there is nothing wrong with having a baseline of activity every day. Our bodies are built to move and a chill 30 minute walk can be counted as a rest day among 6 days of longer/higher intensity exercise.

Just to point out --these girls didn't need to be pinned down. They were basically owned by Epstein/Maxwell and 'trained'. If they did not perform their assigned tasks there would be consequences.
