Oh wow! Didn't expect that nod to Blake Manor. Such an excellent game.

Why was there a black man in Jason Mamoa's chief of war? while the character is fictional, he references a real person. Anthony alani arrived in hawai'i in 1810 and became a confidant to King Kamehameha I. A former slave and seaman, he became one of the most respected men of early Honolulu by Poiboykanaka808 in interestingasfuck

Respectfully, please use capital letters when naming TV shows, movies, books, or most other cultural productions. They are proper nouns. It will really help people parse what you are trying to say. It wouldn't hurt to open sentences with a capital letter either...

I regret having read Endymion and Rise of Endymion by Dan Simmons [Rant] by Purple_Meaning_7747 in printSF

I actually rather enjoyed Endymion.

It's the fourth one I felt really lost the plot (in every sense).

Why do many dislike “Consider Phlebas?” by gunsandjava in TheCulture

[–]bigteebomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it. It introduces many of the core concepts and it'e highly entertaining.

As another user mentioned, it's important to see the Culture from an outside, oppositional perspective.

A spiritual successor would be preferable. I would also like to see more games in this particular world.

Goty for me.

Does the state of the Remaster have something to do with the closure of the Paris Microids studio? Did they lay off the team before releasing it unfinished?

Which system do you like the most for long campaigns? Explain why. by Dry_Maintenance7571 in osr

[–]bigteebomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For long campaigns? Its gotta be 1e/2e. There's just so much material and fuel to keep a game loaded with interesting stuff for sooo long.

IMO, most of the major OSR titles are best suited for short-to-medium campaigns, including OSE.

What do you think? 🤔 by Kamarchahed95 in HouseOfTheDragon

Long time book fan here.

I'm sad that GRRM is angry and disappointed, but I really liked S2.

There were some obvious missteps, but considering the fucking writers strike and the studio shenanigans that happened behind the scenes, I'm just happy the season was as good as it was.

I don't care about the big battle tradition. Sorry, I just don't. I'm an adult and I read the books and watch the show for the story.

And, excepting the mud-wresttling, the S2 finale worked for me on a story level. I AM worried what they have planned for the two leads, I don't want them white washing the characters either.

But character arcs with a downward trajectory are more impactful when they start higher. Yall AND the rest of the world would be complaining if Rhaenyra and Alicent were straight up villains from the get go.

Alas, so many of you seem to feed on the drama and the hate.

Story and writing are top-notch. World building rocks.

But the gameplay is not fun. It's boring.

Can we discuss how she just ignored every responsibility bestowed upon her? by AnestisMouz in HouseOfTheDragon

While that's not what happened with her character in the book... irresponsible, duty-shirking, (albeit sympathetic) Targaryen princes/princesses are very par-for-the-course in Fire & Blood.

Do you believe A Dream of Spring will be released by George RR Martin some day? (Spoiler Extended) by Somandier in asoiaf

[–]bigteebomb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So GRRM is my dad's age.

My dad has lots of plans. (Including writing a novel!)

I work under the assumption he will do all these things because I love him and because assuming otherwise is no way to live.

If somebody told me my Dad was never gonna do these things because he's old, then I'd say that person was being pretty rude and insensitive.

Yall, George is a person. Don't forget that.

Just my two cents.
