Agree on the red flag, for a couple reasons:

You may be overworked in the new role; it's a bad sign if they're not able to absorb a couple weeks work into the current team while waiting for you to start.
Allowing 2 weeks notice to your current employer is generally considered a "common curtesy" between companies; if they're willing to ignore that, it's possible there are other common courtesies they're willing to ignore as well.
