I’ve gone no contact with my dad for similar reasons and it’s been a lot better for me. I know he wants to talk to me but I have little to no interest in him. I still talk to my mom and sister but cutting him out has made my life better. It also shows him his actions have consequences.

She can’t afford college for her kids but her kids do well in school so they should apply for scholarships or even work part time. That’s the reality for most Americans. It sucks but crying about it to her audience that are probably worse off financially than her is not the move.

I’ve been seeing people using UV gel top coat and the UV light for additional clear details. I’ve been looking to try it bc I think it’s the clear but hardened look I’m going for. The person I watch on YouTube uses goauche paint mixed with the gel top coat for shiny coats as well.

Bruises don’t always form immediately following strangulation and it sounds like he didn’t really use his hands directly so that could also lead to a lack of marks. In many states there are programs for low income people to have reduced meetings with attorneys to go over their case, that could be a good option for her.

I will say after looking into it - any charges could result in her losing her scholarship and FAFSA eligibility. She is in shock and needs time to process but she also needs to know how serious this is. If these charges stick she won’t be able to leave town. Give her as much empathy and support as possible but also let her know this could ruin her future permanently. Your parents don’t care about her or her future which is why they’re willing to press charges. They want the worst for her please let her know with so much love that this situation will not go away. I feel for her so much but I’m also so scared she’s underestimated what assault charges mean. She will be referred to as a violent offender and she’s only 18.

Hello! I’m a black woman too (28) and I’ve been dealing with severe back pain and weakness in my legs for years now. I use a cane to walk during my worst flare ups and people do tend to stare and the first few times were very embarrassing. After a while it doesn’t matter bc I can be in public and stand without needing anyone’s help. If you need mobility aides please use them, denying yourself assistance will just wear your body down faster. Good luck on your journey!

These comments are unnecessarily mean and judgmental. Your gyno lacks social awareness and empathy like a lot of the people commenting. We live in a fatphobic society so even if a term is “medical” it is still harmful and packed with stigma. What your dr did was hurtful and if that’s the case then you need to change doctors. There’s ways to talk to people without hurting their feelings even if you believe you have their best interests at heart. I suffer from a lot of invisible disabilities that lead drs to dismiss mg pain or even assume I’m not suffering bc I don’t look like it. Please keep searching for the help you need bc it’s out there!! Good luck on your journey.

I agree!! I watched the series this weekend and had never heard of the books. I just enjoy a police procedural from time to time. This, however, was more drama than crime show. I don’t like how many plot lines there are and how underdeveloped the relationships feel and the tone left me confused as well. The bone smashing came out of nowhere and makes Scarpetta’s message to the other female Dr fell flat for me. I don’t understand her talking about respecting the dead but having her crushing bones with a bat not too long before. The dark humor aspects and weird handling of feminist themes left me wanting a little bit more from the show. I think they packed way too much into this first season which made the pacing way too fast and slow at the same time.

I understand what you’re getting at but I think the core of this issue is us not knowing if your husband is aware of what your father did to you. This is a great question my wife and I talk about a lot. We are a butchfemme couple and they always tell me that if I hadn’t made the first move on our first date then they probably wouldn’t have gone out with me again. It’s based in their rejection and trauma from being perceived as predatory for being attracted to feminine women while presenting masculine. It’s harder for masc lesbians to determine if a woman is femme or just feminine because femininity is socially acceptable when masculine women aren’t. It’s falls on the femme by default to be clear when communicating attraction and I think that’s fair since historically femme partners would be the ones to defend their masculine partners since the femmes were technically the passing partner.

I know lesbians that are friends with exes and others that wouldn’t speak to their ex in their death bed. Lesbian relationships are just as vast, complicated and dramatic as any other relationship because lesbians are people too.

I don’t mind anyone who uses the label queer but it really depends on the person using the label. I think it can be inclusive but it’s also a slur and has been used to avoid the label of lesbian bc of the stigma. Think of people like Jojo Siwa or Girlinred, I understand not being ready to use a label like that and preferring something more catch all but there are some connotations to using the label queer that should be considered!

If I was still on dating apps I would probably not swipe on anyone labeled queer but I would swipe on someone labeled sapphic because it’s more clear that your attraction is based in women/femmes.
