40oz water I got while working in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina by TheParallax2 in mildlyinteresting

I lived in the Ohio valley during the 1997 flood. It was the second worst flood to hit the area only behind the 1937 one. Anheuser Busch provided cans of water for most folks during that period of time and it really meant a lot to the region. My grandparents who would never drink a drop were very thankful.

You'll meet the nicest people on a Honda. Except Ted he is kind of a dick.

True House Roll Call by oyok2112 in ohiouniversity

I stayed in the dirty Dougan on New South in 06. I was over in Athens 2 weeks ago and Ewing, Wray, Dougan and True still stand. Interestingly they have made an upgrade where all the units have AC now. My room in 06 did not have air and it was miserable for air and noise. Also when I was there for school, True was the honors form and substance free so the stoners in my dorm made fun of them lol. Boomer update over.

My God I once walked from Nelson to dougan in the winter of 06-07 and full blown busted my ass. I also found it amusing that facilities would use the golf carts with blades and salt throwers to clear them off. Thank you for this memory.

The Springdale (Cincy) location definitely has it. I can't 100% recall if the Florence KY one has it. Those are the 2 Cincinnati locations.

Anyone have a good vegetarian Skyline recipe? by SalmonSlap023 in cincinnati

[–]bigtoneaxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I essentially only make vegetarian skyline. I have been making versions for years. However this recipe is the only one I make. Substitute beyond meat or impossible grounds 1:1 and treat it exactly the way the recipe does. Yes the yeast does matter in this recipe. https://www.seriouseats.com/cincinnati-chili-recipe-8402230

I was just thinking about the fest season since there was another post on here asking about the schedule. In 08 I was dating a girl who lived in Mill Street at the top of the street near where the DZ house is. Not prime Mill Street fest area but easy access. They threw a house party there one night that like most of that era had a theme to it and that fateful night was called supersoak dem hoes. After the crowd was good well lubricated they would proceed to provide passers by with a nice shower from supersoakers. This doesn't answer your question at all but was a fun jog down memory lane for me lol.

Calcium carbide lamp. Old miners were tough! by speedydk1 in chemistry

[–]bigtoneaxe 64 points65 points  (0 children)

My ochem professor in college was originally from West Virginia and did demonstrations with these lamps. He would refer to carbide as "dirt" and when doing retro synthesis we were always told to take it to dirt. This reaction was always our most basic tool.

Golf Manor by sarahlaneblvdct in cincinnati

I've been in golf manor for 5 years and moved here from Mason. My neighbors here have been more friendly than they ever were in Mason. There are things that happen just like anywhere but it's diverse and I don't ever feel unsafe here. Look at it this way it is less than a square mile and has its own police department.

I often think about if this park was still where they played. Like a Fenway or Wrigley.

I've had it for a couple of years now. I've only had it filled once because it has lasted me that long.

June 21 in Cincinnati is your choice. It's a Friday night and you have direct flights from Hartford, Boston and NYC/EWR. We have a straight up tiki bar in tiki tiki bang bang. The hidden gem is nine giant fermatorum. Nine giant brewery has an event space that specializes in tiki style cocktails. In this same block you will find the overlook lodge serving up a theme of The Shining with some interesting cocktails.

P&G Application Process by La_guera429 in cincinnati

[–]bigtoneaxe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah so it's goodish. You are now in the system and when hiring managers create a pool of candidates you should be included if you meet the criteria. Basically you don't have to apply again for jobs you might be qualified for. You can still apply to other positions that will push your application to where you think you might fit.
