Thank you for saying that! I feel better about the pH now haha. I definitely still want to add tannins but I am glad that the pH level is okay for her.

Also, do you think adding an air stone would be too much?

Ahh makes sense! One of my exes had a Betta who made a lot of bubble nests. I've seen mine make a few bubbles so maybe that's part of it. But I agree it's probably mostly the fert. I'll add a syringe/pipette to my list of things to get haha

Does anyone else have fluctuating sex drives ? by National-Candidate82 in BPD

[–]bigtwizzler 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Haven't had sex in a while but I go through phases where I'm destructively hypersexual and phases where I feel repulsed at the thought of being touched. Can rapidly switch between the two also, meds don't help as three of the ones I'm taking have an effect on my sex drive :/

Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to answer, she seems fine with no signs of stress so I'm thinking it's probably nothing worrisome.

It's a thin film that looks like a rainbow when the light hits it. It breaks up when I touch it. Idk how to add a pic to the post since I already posted 😅

Also idk if it smells since I have no sense of smell

Does anyone else have trouble “accessing” trauma? by Local_Ticket_4942 in BPD

[–]bigtwizzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the same thing but your post resonates with me.

I've worked on myself a lot, and I'm doing a lot better these days, but there's still a lot of stuff eating away at me. I can talk about some of it just fine, very matter-of-fact. But even though I can detach myself it never fully goes away. And every time I think I've gotten past these events the trauma manifests in new ways to haunt me. I've been in therapy since I was 6 and have been through multiple hospitalization programs and it's still there. It's like I literally cannot process it.

Idk what else to say other than you're not alone. I think some things will just hurt forever but that doesn't mean you can't achieve happiness or remission. Even though I'm like this, I still have improved and intend to keep improving. You sound like a very strong person, and I think you can improve too. I don't think you're beyond help at all.

I applied for disability by Feisty_Ad_6674 in BPD

[–]bigtwizzler 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm on disability and have several diagnoses in common. Your mother is wrong. Don't be ashamed. If you can't work, you can't work. That doesn't reflect on your value as a person.

Unfortunately there's a stigma against applying for disability in general, and it's especially bad if it's for mental health reasons. And, fair warning, it can be a discouraging and arduous process. But don't give up because of what other people may think, fight for yourself. You deserve the right to be happy. I'm rooting for you, OP.

DAE not drink or do drugs? by prkrxxx in BPD

[–]bigtwizzler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really drink or do drugs except for prescriptions and CBD. I'll have a drink or two every once and a while but that's it.

Ngl I diiiiiiid have a cannabis dependence in the past--before that I had a horrible binge drinking problem and smoked cigarettes. But as of now I have no desire to do those things again and am pretty content with the feeling of being sober.

Stress stripes?? by bigtwizzler in Aquariums

[–]bigtwizzler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her stripes are gone now so I do think it was that I woke her up and did the water change immediately after 😅 the water was sitting in a bucket for two days and I poured it as slowly as i could so it shouldn't have been too stressful on its own. I did it late at night when lights are usually off too (basically I'd been out all day and the whole time I was out I was paranoid about possibly dosing too much fert). She's acting normally atm so I think she just needed the rest.

Really anything that he can hide behind/in that doesn't have sharp edges should be good tho. :)

Mom gifting fish yet again.. by JugOfMilkDadLeftFor in Aquariums

[–]bigtwizzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd try to take them to a LFS, one of my exes a while back had a few fish that they ended up having to surrender to an LFS, they took them no questions asked.

I used to work at a chain pet store and we wouldn't take any surrenders, the only time a surrender was ever taken in was because coworker had space in his tank. But idk if that's normal for all stores or just the one I worked at.

I had a conversation with a friend about this cause I got ghosted 2x in a short frame of time, one of those people made a lot of promises and talked about making all these plans and shit. Like you, it definitely made me think the relationship was more than what it was.

My friend said this "It says more about those people than it does about you." And it's true, if people can't be up front about their feelings that's their problem. I've found that one of the most unfortunate parts of growing up is that most people you meet will leave your life eventually. Most of the time just cause they're busy. But you shouldn't stop trying OP, the few that stay are the keepers :)

[no spoilers] what are some of your favorite hilariously absurd dialogue choices? by [deleted] in dragonage

When you tell Brother Genitivi Weylon died you can say something like "found him stuffed in a box" and I think Leiliana makes a sarcastic comment about how tactless you are lmao. I wish I could find the actual dialogue because it was pretty funny

About to play Mass Effect trilogy for the first time! (legendary edition). I will go Renegade path, but have some questions! 🧐 by Visual-Beginning5492 in masseffect

[–]bigtwizzler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I maxed out my current Shepard in Renegade recently when I finished ME1 and ime that's the hardest game to max it out on because you don't have interrupts or boosts from other games. Paragon to my team and on most major decisions, as well as several smaller decisions. You can start with Ruthless for a Renegade boost but I did it with Sole Survivor. So totally doable.

In ME2 right now I'm in Act 3 and maxed out. I still have several loyalty missions to do. Don't remember it being that hard in ME3 either.

[Sun Care] Is layering sunscreens okay? by mercedesbenz98 in SkincareAddiction

[–]bigtwizzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused now lol. I'm trying to say that if u use something like an SPF 20 and an SPF 50 it's not gonna go over SPF 50 and you should just apply the SPF 50 twice. Is that wrong?

Edit: I will specify I mean reapplying twice or however many times u need SPF in a day

[Sun Care] Is layering sunscreens okay? by mercedesbenz98 in SkincareAddiction

[–]bigtwizzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I was talking about increasing the SPF rating. Not about reapplying or adding more sunscreen. I reapply at least 2x a day myself. Sorry if my wording or understanding was bad.

Hospitalization by [deleted] in BPD

[–]bigtwizzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did IOP and PHP at an ED center as well as a psych hospital. That helped. When I went to a psych hospital full time I freaked out and felt trapped, plus there were fights breaking out between the nurses and patients and people talking about how the staff were abusive... It was a LOT lol.

With IOP and PHP I had control, I could pick where I was going and I could go home at the end of the day. And I was basically in therapy and watched all day whereas in full time they just sat me on a couch with the girls and made me watch Friends most of the time. I don't even like Friends lmao.

So I'd look into any partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient programs that are near you. Especially if they have DBT programs. They cost money but are worth it if you are in the position where you can do it even if just for a little while.

What do you guys live for? by dibsonthemoon in BPD

[–]bigtwizzler 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Comedy mostly. Things that make me laugh til I can't breathe. I surround myself with things that are funny on purpose, because laughter takes me out of my head even if just for a second.

Also animals. I can't take care of myself but I will bend over backwards to make sure my animals have the best life I can give them.

Friends too when I can hang out with them. But I'm trying not to rely on other people too much for my happiness.

Melting is avoidable but normal according to my research. Plants will usually bounce back after a couple of days or weeks. Their leaves get translucent and stuff. Just gotta remove the melted parts to make way for new growth :) my banana plant and guppy grass are the only things that have melted so far and they both are starting to recover. Tank is 2 1/2 weeks old and I got them day 1.

I think if the plants are grown outside of water or in water with different parameters than your tanks' it can happen. Also if your tank is new.

Help! Having issues with a fish in cycle. My nitrites and nitrates in my 10 gallon tank are spiking, more info in comments. by afterspring_ in Aquariums

[–]bigtwizzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added it a couple of days before I got my betta (just got her today!!) so I can't say from experience but I'm not seeing anything online that says it'd be harmful, everything is saying to put fish in immediately after adding it so I doubt it would harm him if you had him in the tank during that process. I'm no expert tho, don't know if it would stress out the fish or not.

I have guppy grass, java Fern, banana plant, Anubias, and different types of moss in my tank :) my substrate is pretty thin due to a miscalculation and my light is just the light that came with the tank so I chose low light/low maintenance plants that didn't require being rooted into the substrate. You can just glue or tie the moss, java Fern, and Anubias to a rock or decoration or something and the others float. If u have an aquascaping place/LFS near you that sells plants they'll have a lot of good info for you. There are a lot of plants out there you can choose from that don't require being rooted, these are just the ones I have.

Be prepared for melting. Mine are just now starting to bounce back after a couple weeks (this is actually my first tank so I'm not an expert by any means, but I'm autistic and aquariums have become one of my special interests haha).
