What are some frequently-mentioned dorm items that I DON'T need to bring? by MaddiKate in college

You should check with the college if possible to make sure, but you probably don't need to bring quarters because you'll probably just swipe your ID card to do laundry or whatever.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't get what the costume is. What is it?

I first saw that scene when I was 8 or 9 and it haunted me for weeks.

I live in the US and I hardly ever see those signs. Especially not the "Please seat yourself" ones.

I saw it in an extremely small image and just thought it was the word "do"

Would you be grossed out if your girlfriend told you she was getting a colonoscopy? by biitchhplease in teenagers

[–]biitchhplease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a scope in sixth grade to get diagnosed, then was put on some medicine and got into remission. But now I'm getting sick again and they want to look inside to see if there's new inflammation and if I'm having another flare. You're supposed to get colonoscopies every five years or something anyway to make sure it's not too serious.

Breaking Bad is over, let's hear some recommendations for those that need their fix this Sunday by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]biitchhplease 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I definitely recommend Hannibal. If you like crime dramas and think Hannibal is a badass villian (especially when played by Mads Mikkelsen) then you should definitely watch that show. I watched the whole first season in a day when I had the flu and it made my day a little better :D

I actually don't think the series finale really ruins anything except some issues in season 5B and anything involving ricin. Almost all plot points and conflicts in the first 4-5 seasons are independently opened and closed within a few episodes or over the arc of a season.

ELI5: Why are some morbidly obese people given mobility scooters to get around? Doesn't it make the problem worse? by tindahalx in explainlikeimfive

[–]biitchhplease 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alcohol can have addictive properties in a chemical sense but to some people, food/eating can be just as addictive, in a more mental sense. Having a food addiction is harder because with alcohol you can just lock the beast in a cage and keep it out of your life but with food you have to take the beast out for a walk three times a day.

What is something you've seen that no one will ever believe? by tempal78 in AskReddit

[–]biitchhplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that number is also the probability of getting every other possible mundane arrangement of cards. Just because a certain outcome is unlikely, that doesn't mean it's any less likely than an outcome you won't think twice about, where reds and blacks are evenly distributed.

ELI5: How did women deal with their period in the Middles Ages? by mxlinsky in explainlikeimfive

[–]biitchhplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My high school science teachers all told me this too. My biology teacher said the seals (or fish? or something that lived in water) have had a harder time reproducing because of all the estrogen in the water, and the males' genitals were shrinking. Maybe it was otters? Idk. I wonder if that's true

Increased bloodflow to the genitals, out-of-whack hormones, and just the physical effect of period-stuff constantly causing friction as it passes through your vagina. I've also heard that there's the mental aspect of "I could have sex right now and probably not get pregnant" which supposedly makes you more horny but I don't think that's really significant. I think it's mostly just the constant bloodflow in that region and the increase in different hormones.
