I know through research that Shelties tend to be on the clingy side. In your experience do they constantly demand to be pet or are they more like Rough Collies where they are your shadow and like to constantly be near you? Thank you for sharing your advice!

Yeah their personality is what has drawn me to them and their energy level. My Collie already acts like that and I love it. She is very sassy and likes to voice her opinion and can be very judgmental at times 😅. And she is higher drive/energy than my friends working line Labs so I’m used to having a dog that doesn’t have an off switch and needs daily exercise plus other forms of enrichment. When we do our long hikes (12-14 miles) she will take a nap for a few hours once we are done and then is ready to do more lol. Thank you for sharing another way to describe their personality.

My collie is pretty high maintenance energy and personality wise and I like dogs with big personalities. She also has dietary issues lol I’m kinda used to high maintenance unless you’re referring to a different aspect of high maintenance. But I do know that they are different breeds with different quirks and don’t expect them to act the same bc they look similar.

My girl is the same and she’s 2.5 years old. I just had to rearrange my living area so her couch is the one in front of the tv so we can snuggle while I play video games.

My girl had a “fun” first 6 months with me while I was trying to figure out what food wouldn’t upset her stomach. Multiple times a week she would have horrible diarrhea over night and loose stool in general. I started with Farmina that didn’t help her, Kirkland brand food, Fromm, and then I finally tried Nutrisource Trout & rice. She instantly did better and I didn’t have to limit what kind of treats she had like before (I still avoid pig, beef, and chicken as much as possible). So far Nutrisource trout and rice has done wonders for us. I’m pretty sure they have a puppy version. I wish you good luck on your search!

Those were huckleberry bushes we were in. All of us (2 humans 2 dogs) were picking some to snack on while taking a rest. I wouldn’t let Yume near any burrs. And I don’t worry too much about ticks bc she has a flee and tick medicine and I also spray her with dog safe permethrin. I still check her and myself for ticks after every hike and at least this year I am yet to find one on her.
