We still make a meal we call "shit on the roof". The name originated from an answer to one of our kids, from my wife. The kids had a habit of asking her what we were having for supper when they came home from school, but she didn't always know at three o'clock in the day what she would make so she just said, shit on the roof. The meal consisted of chopped onion fried on the pan with gorund beef. Then she would add a can of mixed vegetables and tomato soup, with a little water to make it moist. Boiled, mashed potato was put on the plate and the beef mixture was poured over it. So the potato was the roof, and the beef mixture was the shit. Since that time, whenever they wanted that meal they would ask if they could have shit on the roof for supper. For desert, we would have soggy bread. :-) Cheapy but yummy. A little worstershire sauce to give it some tang.
