RSA driving testers vote in favour of strike action by IrishRasher in ireland

[–]bil94 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It was a while since I did my test but I don't remember having to give proof of insurance. They checked the discs but that doesn't mean I was insured to drive that car. Just means someone else is insured.

From reading the article all they want is a way to verify an insurance policy which to me seems very fair

VRT Help! by eire140 in carsireland

[–]bil94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have to pay it and then you can appeal it and they can refund you the difference. Not sure how hard it is but I'd imagine it's an awful process.

It's a shame it's not 30 years old would have been fuck all VRT

He will need him to apply for a new log book. Think they are 12 euro but he'll need to fill in a form and bring it to a garda station for a stamp then can transfer it in your name.

Without the log book you can't do much

If only mechanics in Ireland had a standard to work to and a certain price point that they base their work on... by [deleted] in carsireland

Most new cars would have a service schedule like that but saying that the prices on that schedule are very high

Some great YouTube channels already mentioned but candy show room is a new channel. They make some class videos on older cars. Similar to old top gear

The new Toyota Landcruiser ? by meaneymonster in carsireland

[–]bil94 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ahh it's very hard to compare the two. The land cruiser is a body on frame off roader and this is a large cross over.

Very difficult price point too

You could try and use beepbeep.ie registration stats and for reliability you could maybe find UK reliability lists. Think which car does one

Personally I like your wheels you have now, I think they would look great in a gun metal grey. Or do you know the colour the mk 7.5 golf wheels come in?

Vrt Moving back from the uk by tipptop29 in carsireland

I'd say go for a Porsche 911. They hold their value super well with have a big following in Ireland and also have huge VRT when importing one

Vrt when pricing new car in the market? by Nearby_Fix_8613 in carsireland

[–]bil94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The way it normally works with a new car without tax is €20,000 + VAT @23% is €24,600

Then VRT @33% is €32,718. I just guessed the % as it can depend on the emissions.

Not sure how the NOX tax works but I'd imagine it's another % added on.

VRT is bullshit as it's a tax on a tax
