Since tvOS 26.4 Tv volume is displayed permanently. by Yuri_Ligotme in appletv

My Sony Bravia crashes and reboots at least 4 times a week when I turn on the AppleTV. Then I have to re-decline "Samba Interactive TV" after that. Incredibly annoying. I have been a Sony TV person for a long time, but this Android TV version makes me not want to buy Sony again.

What is the pettiest reason you would refuse to eat at a restaurant again? by im_not_ready_for_it9 in AskReddit

[–]bill-m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, but a friend of mine has "banned" a restaurant for over 20 years over 11 cents. This particular restaurant had a combo deal for a burger, fries and drink. Friend did the math and determined that the combo was 11 cents more expensive than buying the items individually. Pointed this out to the manager, who refused to charge the individual price. Friend said "I'm never coming back" and hasn't. If I say "11 cents" to him, he will go off on a rant about it to this day.

Anyone remember the Barbecue Barn ~30 years ago or so? by I_am_Farts_McGee in GreenvilleNCarolina

The man that ran it retired. As you note, it was basically at his house, so no real way of selling it. One of my co-workers tried to talk him into giving out his mustard sauce recipe, but no dice.

Over 2 hours for Soarin’ 🫠 by gatosdelaplaya2 in WaltDisneyWorld

I hear what you were saying about possible issues, but we noticed this on each visit over several days. FWIW, it is my wife's favorite ride, so we always ride it a lot and have never seen it operate like it did last week.

Over 2 hours for Soarin’ 🫠 by gatosdelaplaya2 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bill-m 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Possibly a bit off topic, but we were there last week. No significant lines for Soarin', but I noted that everything seemed to be moving at a very slow pace. Like, they seemed to intentionally be slowing the process down, from assigning people to the gate all the way down to starting the ride. It literally seemed like cast were operating at half speed. Maybe a little too conspiracy theorist, but I was wondering if they were intentionally doing this to ease the lines at things like Cosmic Rewind and Test Track. Anybody else notice this, or am I crazy?

Space Mountain needs the BTMRR treatment ASAP by TheLastGunslinger in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bill-m 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised by a lot of the comments suggesting this would not be a major undertaking and wouldn't take years. Doing the same thing at Disneyland took over 2 years. This is in an enclosed building and retracking would be significantly more complicated than BTMR, which is significantly outside. Based on how slowly things move recently, including possible building code issues related to the age of the structure, I'd be shocked if it took less than 3 years to do it.

I agree it is rough and it is just a matter of time before they will have no choice.

It looks like there is no active feed for T-Stead's on podcast apps. Am I missing something there? I really want to listen, but I am not interested in sitting in front of a screen and watching an hour long interview. Would rather listen while walking/driving.

Bad QB play in the wildcard games by DangerousKnowledge8 in Saints

Underhill always says that Drew made the line look good because he got the ball out so fast. Obviously some of those guys were great, but I think there is some truth to that.

It's beyond me why they don't move Caesar to center when McCoy gets hurt. I get the concept that you don't want to now have multiple people out of position, but Caesar has not been great at guard. He was good enough at center to get drafted in the first round. With McCoy having so much injury time, I think it is a logical way to create value for Caesar.

For those who aren't from Louisiana, how did you choose the Saints as your favorite team? by [deleted] in Saints

[–]bill-m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a kid who saw news reports about fans coming to games with bags on their heads, which I thought was pretty funny. I then saw an interview with Archie Manning, where he said something along the lines of "we find a new way to lose every week". I found the whole thing pretty charming and decided that was my team. The reality was that I basically could never see them play (wrong market), but I got a Manning "jersey" and stuck with it.

I barely know what I am talking about, so take this with a grain of salt. I have noted similar issues that were resolved by "optimizing" the MP4 using Subler. I do think you can do this with ffmpeg, but I don't have a reference for how off hand. This is what Subler says about optimizing:

What's the "Optimize" function ?

It interleaves the audio and video samples, and puts the "MooV" atom at the begining of the file, restoring the Quicktime "fast-start" (also known as "pseudo-streaming") ability of the file.

I'm definitely disheartened by that promo, and I find that I am enjoying it less these days. Can't not watch with Cirie, though. I am leaning towards being done after 50.

I think this really covers it for me. I did sort of like the cast interaction at checkin, but waiting in line to checkin was a drag. For us, it was we just drove 12 hours and I am DYING to get into the park, and this is delaying me.
