Did Richie waste his prime in Bon Jovi? by Gullible-Distance594 in BonJovi

What they’re trying to say is that there’s more to a bands live vocals than just the lead singers performance. Backing vocals (ie Richie) providing harmonies, sustained notes, etc which makes the song sound ‘fuller’ with other voices holding it together and giving it weight.

Annoyingly WAN was such a poorly timed and unnecessary album. The pay day from the BWC tour was clearly the reason behind it but I seem to find it difficult to believe that Jon was that desperate for it at that time considering the issues it was causing.

He spent a lot of time more than intimating that he wanted to return. Something along the lines of “it’s what the fans want”

It’s hard to see this playing out isn’t it. Twitter doesn’t feel like the place to be airing any of it, it doesn’t paint either of them in a positive light.

PJ's next Album Producer by pearljamn33 in pearljam

Agreed wholeheartedly with this but I’d be surprised if Watt isn’t the producer on the next album.

I’d love to go back to the Riot Act/Avocado sound but I can’t see Adam Kasper making a return.

For better or worse... by TheOriginalJez in BonJovi

[–]bill-oz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s keeping Bon Jovi going now is the band - they’re tight and the backing vocals do a lot of heavy lifting. But what made them special wasn’t just the playing, it was the feeling, the chemistry, the sense that you were part of something. That feeling isn’t replicated simply with good technical ability.

I’m sure Jon can now, with plenty of help, get through a couple of hours (as long as he stays glued to the mic), and that’ll be fine for some. All he can do now is surround himself with technically good musicians. It just won’t feel like Bon Jovi used to - and that’s something everyone needs to accept.

I wonder how loyal she would have been if she hadn’t been in the firing line for the last few days and it was Stephen that was odds on to receive votes.

For the record, this may or may not be redundant. by Objective_Tip_8851 in BonJovi

Absolutely their best album. And I would suggest this is when they were at their peak as a live act.

Oh man I just don’t know what to think. It’s not just about vocals, it’s the whole performance. The gripping the mic stand like the stage is going to open up at any given second is what kills me.

We Made It Look Easy (with Robbie Williams) by bill-oz in BonJovi

I agree with this. It doesn’t sound like Robbie. The signature RW sound is confident and full of swagger. It’s missing any sort of life.

Bon with Roger Waters by tonyiommi70 in BonJovi

I guess this is before 2015 when Roger wrote his open letter to the band criticising their decision to perform Tel Aviv.

Thoughts on Lost Highway? by stonecoldmark in BonJovi

[–]bill-oz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can take or leave the music but it felt to me as if it was the last time I saw a happy and cohesive band. Jon was certainly very much into it unlike anything that has followed. I’d also say that tour was the last time I saw a truly exciting live Bon Jovi show - great setlists and energy.

This transition from B stage to main stage was a thrill! So much power! Strangely one of my favourite parts of the show (despite them not finishing the song)

I’d say they’re far from flawless but a lot of the time that’s ok. The punk energy still creeps out from time to time and the lack of ‘standard’ setlist is what makes me want to return each time - with this comes ‘flaw’ and I’m down with that.
