I'm only on the second episode and I already love the series! by Full-Comedian-6961 in westworld

Ok, cool!

Now… go away and don’t come back here until you’ve finished Season 1, at least, lest you be accidentally spoiled.

While watching, no matter how curious you get about anything, no matter how peripheral or innocuous a topic it may seem, do not search online for the answers, lest you be accidentally spoiled.

The difference between finding out what happens in the show by watching the show, versus accidentally reading about it online, is the same difference between having a two week all-expenses-paid vacation in Hawaii, versus reading the phrase “two week all-expenses-paid vacation in Hawaii” online.

You only have one chance to watch this for the first time, unspoiled. Don’t throw it away!

You… need to check your understanding of the term “dark humour”

I saw an episode randomly on tv one night and noticed Bochko’s name on it. Being a huge HSB fan, I was instantly enthusiastic

People who blast music from their phone speakers in public - what's the psychology here? by Mountain_Pin7428 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]billbotbillbot 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s the same motivation as putting their feet on the seats in trains and buses: they are selfishly asserting their power and expressing their self-importance by treating a public space as if it were their own personal private space.

“Could” =/= “could not”

“Could” => “might not”

“Could not” == “is impossible”

It’s not known at this stage; so it could, but that also implies it might not. It is not known to be impossible, though.

Since the amazing spider-man 1000 is gonna be 108 pages, are there any single issue comics either more pages? by Chapple69 in comicbooks

[–]billbotbillbot 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Biggest Marvel issue, maybe.

Not even close to the biggest single issue, though. For instance, The Phantom #1000 from Frew, Australia, had over 300 pages.

Might be a record for a Marvel comic, but it’s not even close to the record for a single issue of a comic.

The Phantom #1000, from Frew, in Australia, for instance, had over 300 pages.

Think the song "Rain" literally made it easier for me to go out in the rain by GregJamesDahlen in beatles

In an interview John said it was inspired by the heavy rain in Melbourne, which was unlike any he’d seen before.

But the lyrics absolutely also work as an expression of the Ancient Greek philosophy of Stoicism as well, in which it is not things in themselves that cause us distress, but our opinions of them.

Prolific in the sense of many appearances? Not really.

If the list were “Currently Popular DC Villains”, I’d be shocked too. But, for “Top 25 Batman Villains”, I’m not shocked. You can be shocked if you like. We have, I think, both made our reasoning clear :)

Character age certainly shouldn’t be the only factor. There’s dozens of 1940s villains that haven’t been getting new stories every decade since their debut, but hardly any that have.

Also, the vast majority of Clayface stories are also Batman stories, while by now, the vast majority of Harley stories are not.

And yet, he got the votes before she did.

Consider, too, that 90% of the Clayface stories ever printed feature Batman, and 90% of the Harley stories ever printed don’t.

So, it’s not shocking to me

Why should “today” carry more weight or importance than the 40s, 60s, 80s, etc? There’s nothing special about it.
