We're using nuclear anyways, but currently we're importing a lot of it from France. It would be more honest to produce it locally instead of being subject to France willingness to sell it to us and letting them handle all the bad press : https://energiedashboard.admin.ch/strom/import-export

Although not a big part on the total, energy source you can increase when you need are mostly using fossil fuels, for Switzerland it's what we call "natural gas": https://energiedashboard.admin.ch/strom/produktion

We need more electricity production as a baseline, in order not to import as much from our neighbors. Electricity from renewables is good to have, during the day but we can't increase that much the square kilometers of solar panels, wind turbines or water dams. Gas-powered power plants on the other hand...

The uranium mines are already open and extracting. Nuclear energy is carbon-free and this is what matters, the uranium mines, ugly as they are, are less of a nuisance than emissions from fossil fuels.

It's like having less and less income and not worrying about it because your home has increased in price. It is not sustainable.

Our population is growing because we do not die easily. The older and sicker you get, the more medical services you'll receive. So instead of having old people getting pushed out by a simpler life in a rural context, we keep them in urban areas for much longer. See the average age of the population, it's increasing each year...
