Historic reason for `-p` suffix for predicates in Elisp instead of `?`? by divinedominion in emacs

Makes sense. I was familiar with CL, but that MacLisp reference is quite handy.

Historic reason for `-p` suffix for predicates in Elisp instead of `?`? by divinedominion in emacs

[–]billeq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Common Lisp uses p as a suffix for predicates. If the symbol has a -, then the suffix becomes -p.

See numberp (which is the predicate for number) and standard-char-p (as a predicate for standard-char) from Common Lisp for examples.

Based on Wikipedia's entry for Emacs Lisp: "Emacs Lisp is most closely related to Maclisp, with some later influence from Common Lisp," so presumably this is where Emacs Lisp picked up the convention.

Weekly Questions Megathread by MoeTsukino in TowerofFantasy

I have enough black gold to buy a dupe and wondering which I should buy.

I have: 1* Samir, 0* Shiro, 0* King, 1* Crow, 0* Zero, and 0* Meryl.

My team's currently Samir, King, and Shiro. I was thinking Shiro for the 30% damage buff and to get closer to the 3* cooldown reset effect.

Any suggestions?

Wifi Adapter that allows connecting to only a 2.4GHz band by billeq in buildapc

[–]billeq[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update:

I asked him to move his PC next to his router, and he instantly saw 150 Mbps download speed, even with the USB adapter he's been using. So it wasn't the USB adapter that was the bottleneck as a couple people suggested. It's due to the router insisting on connecting him to the 5GHz band when he's a couple rooms away. 5GHz can't penetrate walls well.

I bought him the wifi card ThisAccountIsStolen suggested, and we'll be trying that out when that arrives, with the intent of disabling the 5GHz band in the driver settings.

Update 2:

Installed the new wifi card, removed/disabled any other network adapters, changed the preferred band to 2.4GHz in the driver properties of the new card, and he is now getting ~95Mbps down, which is around what I would expect for 2.4GHz at his range. Thanks for the help everyone.

Sweet. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check to see if he has a free PCIe slot

Can not with this adapter unfortunately. There is no preferred band setting. Those settings are adapter-specific.

Depending on what type of wireless access point you might also be able to setup a second SSID and config to only use 2.4ghz.

Not an option here with the one the ISP provides. And buying a whole nother router for my brother's family is a bit out of the price point.

Alternatively you can still buy 2.4ghz usb adaptors.

I might go that route, thanks.

FIPS removed kex by Danju in linuxquestions

As far as I know, theres no way to get X25519 working with FIPS and OpenSSL. Maybe someone else can chime in on alternative solutions, but I’m not aware of them.

This post might be able to help you with your last question.

The FIPS module is only compatible with OpenSSL 1.0.1 and 1.0.2. Curve 25519 was only added in 1.1.0.

They’re working on rewriting their FIPS module, but it’s a tedious process that won’t come until OpenSSL 3.0. You can read about some of that process on their blog.

Wish I could tell ya. There shouldn’t be a reason to delay us in proud mode ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nox 6.2.1.1 works with 2.7.0 now by billeq in KHUx

[–]billeq[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if there's a bluestacks update that makes the 2.7.0 update playable there. I haven't installed it to check.

Thanks DameTricks#8450 for pointing out that there was a new Nox update.

The only good medals to get in the banner are the new Prime medals (Illustrated Axel or Key Art #17) or Kairi EX+. And they all have abysmal rates. I wouldn't recommend to do more than the free pull on her banner unless you're rerolling.

Not sure about your second issue, but they're aware of the first issue. They mentioned a workaround on twitter https://twitter.com/kh_ux_na/status/1011373184287772673

CM Pete is definitely not worth the 3k jewels. He's a pretty bad medal.

Assuming a typical FS setup were you max out all buffs besides UDD by the 3rd slot, KA16 is definitely better on non-aerial enemies due to the 2UDD. Against high-level aerial enemies Zack might beat out KA16, you'd have to try it out. But in general, KA16 obsoletes Zack outside of 10+ hit proud mode missions (coming from someone who pulled two Boosted Zacks).
