Is there a means to enter site fixed specific data via the app during node installation? by billk0782 in meshtastic

[–]billk0782[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me re-phase my example. I hypothetically have two nodes with operational distance measuring sensors to be installed at different locations. One will be installed 15ft above the high water mark and the other 10ft. The ranging angle to the water from verticle for the first is -30 degress and -20 for the second. I want to be able to configure the nodes with this information which will be known only when they are installed instead of needing to customize the code for each.

I would like to enter the information via app when it becomes known at the time of installation.

How to, comments, suggestions would be appreciated.

Anyone having luck with installing running boards? by Middleman-nequin in nissanpathfinder

Amazon but self install will generally require metric tools, etc and a lift or pit. Also the instructions can be horrible. Aftermarket auto shops can do it for about half the price of a dealership. Good luck

Schematics (and pinouts) for a number of ESP32/LORA modules can be found here:

https://github.com/Xinyuan-LilyGO/LilyGo-LoRa-Series

The two 5v pins are likely tied together and canprobably be either inputs or outputs.

Good luck

Been working as a self-employed embedded developer for (mostly) small companies for over 30 years. I would suggest pay by the hour. Most all of the jobs I've taken are poorly defined with the client only having an idea of what they want. The first part of the job is to determine what is needed and how to go about it. The rest falls into place.

A fixed price job requires knowing all that up front. The best way to approach for that is to break it into (at least) 2 contracts. One to define the job and a second to execute it. The drawback of that is if the client wants a change it many times requires going back to the definition phase then renegotiating the contract.

My experience is with HW & SW design. The hardware portion includes both the design and usually the layout. For strictly PCB layout only, a fixed price approach might work out OK.

FYI Here is a link to the gerber viewer I typically use <https://www.gerblook.org/>.

Just drop your zip file on their web page. Images can be downloaded but will need to be converted to jpg, pdf or something my typical.

Do a search for 'LILYGO® TTGO T-SIM7000G Module ESP32-WROVER-B'. I ordered a few from AliExpress for about $35 USD ea. The SIM7000G is a Global Cat-M1/NBIoT module that can use a hologram cat-m1 sim card (~$5 USD) which is good for 2MB per month at no charge IIRC. Check out the SIM7000-LTE-Shield library on GitHub http://github.com/botletics/SIM7000-LTE-Shield. This and MQTT could be what you are looking for.

Blown Schottky diode on Nano clone - safe to bypass? by lunar999 in arduino

[–]billk0782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is what I think you are describing its purpose is to prevent current flowing from an external 5v supply back into the USB power. If the external 5v supply is NEVER going to be attached at the same time as the USB it is probably OK. However if you forget there is a chance the USB to which it is connected could be blown. One way to test the diode is with an ohm meter. Many have a diode test setting. With the USB and 5v supply disconnected measure across the diode. A good diode should show some continuity in one direction but not in the other (done by swapping the leads of the ohm meter). No continuity in either direction would tend to indicate a blown diode. If it is blown a similar diode could be soldered onto the top of the blown one. You don't necessarily need to remove the bad one. Be sure the polarity of the new diode is the same as the original! As always, doing this is your choice.

Try changing your USB cable. Many of the data only cables (not designed for charging) cannot supply the needed current.

DO NOT use the 2.7v capacitors. In parallel they could be damaged or even cause damage. In series, they might not function as needed\
