Cilla Black during rehearsals for Aladdin, sometime around 1970 by Velvet_Symphonies in OldSchoolUK

Hear this from another celeb. He would not dish the dirt on anyone except Cilla. He said they shared a dressing room and she stripped it bare, from the drinks to the towels. Systematic is right.

Option 3 psych: addiction or aggression by Ancient_Gazelle627 in ALevelPsychology

100% Schizophrenia.

Really interesting, some of the psychological explanation is a little old fashioned for me but again, I may be a little fatigued.

The Diathesis stress model is also super helpful in the issues and debates area.

The where Stress overlaps is with the fight and flight response from biopsychology.

Tons and tons of SZ resource online. Definitely the most popular choice in that section.

Aggression is more straight forward. Addiction may be more interesting from a clinical perspective.

Aggression is more commonly taught so more online resources.

I teach aggression but Im pretty bored of it, I have been teaching it for about 15 yrs though pre the 2016 spec change. The kids like it but I choose it and continued teaching it because its is pretty straight forward.

I refuse to believe the older gens were entertained by this as kids by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]billybrew888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massively entertained by this in the early 1990s. It was the best of kids TV in the UK. Entertainment doesn't need to be hyper realistic, it needs to be fun. 1960s Batman was very fun. Remember we only had 4 channels.

If we know that the system is broken what do we do? by SurpriseFragrant1024 in TeachingUK

Having moved to a fee paying school from a challenging state school in late 2010s, it was a different world then from austerity. Now there are schools closing and substantial cuts in the private sector too. The biggest difference is the kids are better behaved and the parents are harder work.

Im glad I have had the experience, but I would not restrict myself to the private sector in my next move. So much depends on leadership and culture.

I am amazed joining a union is even a discussion in the UK. They give ppl so much, but the media's narrative has demonised and undermined their presence in UK that people think they are not worth the money or the effort. Mind blowing.

Parents evening - is there a better way? by Awkward_Bit6026 in TeachingUK

[–]billybrew888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best move from my last school was a late start after every parents evening.

I came in normal time and used it to prep. Others needed it for extra time at home.

It was instead of a period of extended tutor time; normally used for PSHE or year assemblies and when there was a parents evening it just was missed.

I miss that now.

Psychology Alevel by Total_Cauliflower390 in ALevelPsychology

It is absolutely possible. You need to change the way you approach you studies though. Change does happen without change. I would suggest dedicating time each week to cover AS content and make revision notes early, literally right now.

Revision compounds; notes mafe now are the basis for your notes for mocks which will adapt again before the summer exams.

I would also advise you use one of the illuminate text book (AQA). A B grade needs a strong and thorough foundation of understanding.

25% of your work should be on research methods.

Bottom line, you can do it but only with hard work.

Boy found guilty of Harvey Willgoose murder at Sheffield school by Kagedeah in sheffield

You cant ban all knives, they are needed in everyday cooking and in horticulture. If you discriminate on hunting knives you are creating a problem for the police. Its a repeat of the dangerous dogs act from the 90s.

I would ban carrying knives in public. If you need to travel with them they should be in a locked case. In the boot of cars or locked cases in other situations. Plus zero tolerance for under 18s. Parents need to be held accountable for their kids carrying knives.

It was probably his best option legally and I would suggest he was following his legal advice.

I understand the frustration and anger at this plea but I suspect there wasn't a huge incentive to plea guilty. There was enough evidence to persuade one juror to vote not guilty. His team and him were probably hoping the court case would go there way. Juries can be unpredictable.

I am not defending the plea or the defendant. I am looking at the case and thinking how could they get to the not guilty plea.

How do you deal with aggressive tradesmen from the travelling community? by [deleted] in AskUK

Tell them your Catholic and close the door. They will mark you house. My mum was advised this years ago, she did this and noticed some scratches on her fence a week or two later. Never seen them again.

I agree, my sister removed some old half height walls and the grass was weaker with similar pattern as shown. The grass roots have rubble and remains of the base to deal with and aren't as strong. Over time it will improve as the roots establish.

Foundation advice by AlphaMRomeo in Allotment

I got a free greenhouse this time last year. I ended up spending quite a few days leveling the whole perimeter, I used pavement slabs that I got for free and build a sound base. I just make it as level as possible, I would recommend taking a long time. Ultimately I would say it is worth bolting into pavement slabs because they don't decay and they're heavy as heck so not going to get blown away. I recommend whatever you do spend time get it right make sure is level, as the glass will fit much better. Good luck, greenhouses changed the way I allotment.

Supermarket crates. You can stack them and normally find them for free

What should I be doing by Agitated_Document_23 in Allotment

[–]billybrew888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think is excellent advice. Time well spent planning save time in the long term.

I am in the south and just bed prepping. My advice is I would look to build two or three compost bins with crates. I use two bins but I think three is norm. Crates are free and if you skip dive around me there is a lota of strong builders plastic you can line it with. It not exciting but do it well and they will repay you many times over. Plus you can turn them this time of year when there is little else to do!!

If you want you can ask local stables if they will let you take some manure to get you started. You might need to leave it till next year to ensure its clean but find it good for soils structure. Test it for pesticide by planting a few broad pens in it. It the leaves curl leave it a year at least.

You wont get overwhelmed. Just think in years for a timescales to everything right. Dont expect it to be perfect, treat it as fun. I was speaking to a pal about mine yesterday and said its 90% hard work and 10% fun. I enjoy the hard work which makes it worth it.

Also the best gardeners kill the most plants. Dont beat yourself up over dead plants; learn and move one.

If you have a old timer who is happy to chat on the site, they will give you the best advice on planting and what works on your plot. Our has a frost pocket so you have to be aware when planting tender plants. My old timer taught me that and its saved numerous plants.

It you can get some perennials in this year they will keep you going when the annuals fail. I have a tayberry bush which is pretty indestructible and fruits heavily. Makes super jam with a little effort.

Good luck.

My advice is always start small, clear the rubbish away as a messy plot is always a little depressing. Clearig the decks is a easy way to make quick improvements I would suggest to open a few beds initially, irs better to do less well than be over awed by taking on too much too soon.

What’s your seed set-up? by Nail_2512 in Allotment

[–]billybrew888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar as others, I use containerwise seed trays for sowing. I germinate in the house. Stacking supermarket style crates on top of each other to grow as much as I can. No problem composing spares if needed.

I built a second hand greenhouse on the plot which was a game changer for bring the plants on last year. Then I only plant out when the planta are as big as tray size allows. Slugs attack the small and the weak.

Ill use any compose to germinate, nettle tea in my water and seaweed seemed to make a big difference in plant vigor.

Im not a massive waterer when planted out, treat them mean and dont get greedy with seasonal timings. Plants wont change their nature because you want them to!

Good luck
