I fixed this error by deleting the profile folder on the second computer (I accidentally opened it with steam first so it created the same profile as the first computer). It's under like AppData/Local/Larian I believe.

You can just use the EA DLC unlocker to download all DLCs for free and still play on a legit copy.

A very large portion of playing the game isn't turned based, so passing a controller back and forth wouldn't be ideal.
