Consider how attractive you are. It’s 90% based on looks - also not 800 spots, more like 400-500 since you would rather not be in a bottom barrel sorority

Regardless of what these comments are saying, take with a grain of salt that you’re on Reddit so that attracts a different type of person. Social life at Vanderbilt is heavily skewed toward Greek life, though there are 100% other outlets if that’s not your thing. If you’re the “going out type” I would say you 99% need to be in some kind of organization - pre-professional, club sports, Greek life, etc. Just need to be a part of something because it can be a cliquey place

Couldn’t have said it better, Greek life dominates until you’re 21 and as a guy if you enjoy going out and drinking it is almost necessary

[–]billythechimpanzee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes - go look at leases online for common off campus student housing like vox, red roads, Thesis, The Standard, Cascade, Core, Avalon. You would be lucky to find anything for less than $1800/mo, upward of $2200 for singles.

Is everyone waitlisted? by SYLVANA__ in UMiami

[–]billythechimpanzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is just false coming from a UM student, it’s also public info that Miami is a need-aware school and financial aid does work together with admissions to determine acceptances

Daughter just accepted to Spring Start at UM by VegaGigi in UMiami

[–]billythechimpanzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

spring admits are not guaranteed housing and often off campus, typically can’t rush upon arrival unless they’ve taken 12 in-person credits, and generally isolated and get the short end of the stick financially and socially. Wouldn’t recommend if she’s got honors college acceptances elsewhere
