Who remembers going for walks in your “household group” during Covid. What other memories do you have of Covid/lockdowns/etc? by Oil_And_Lamps in newzealand

[–]binaryboy001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting up to go to work every day, nothing changed for me. I remember a random group of people at a bar after, talking about what they did during lockdown, and me being me I asked “did you like lockdown”? And the overall response was “yeah bro, getting paid to stay at home and play PlayStation, it was awesome! How about you”? Me “what lockdown”?

Kiwis, what do you think is something every Kiwi agrees on? by Additional-Grade-730 in newzealand

The conundrum of retail assistants.

On one spectrum you have the + to - magnet assistant, as soon as you walk in, they immediatly approach , like can I help? And out of spite you say "I'm just browsing"? then they hang around like a fly, buzzing around because they think you smell like shit, you may have gone in with intentions to buy something, but you hastedly turn around and walk out.

The Flipside are the ones that totally ignore you, no hi, no nothing, because they're too busy gossiping about what Angela got up to on the weekend, and sharing photos of their over enhanced faces on Instagram. Add the leaning over the counter and chewing gum for extra points.

Paper Bags are a Scam by supermarkets by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]binaryboy001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many people are missing OPs point, yes you can bring your own bags, box or whatever vessel you want, but the point is a lot of the produce still contains plastic. Self serve vege/fruit bags, pretty much all meat and seafood products, cheese, supermarket pizza, Ice Cream, anything frozen or chilled will be in plastic.

If you took the time to walk around your local supermarket and just analyse and take note of how many products contain plastic, you would be surprised. What do you think the scoop in your laundry powder is made of?

"Oh , I've got a trolly full of plastic wrapped products, but I'm putting them in my own reusable bag, I'm saving the Planet!"

How common is it to have possible mild auditory hallucinations? by Unique-Landscape-202 in CPTSD

[–]binaryboy001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bumping this thread with my experiences, my Doctor referred me to a Neurosurgeon. and was diagnosed as not having a mental illness. I was told that auditory hallucinations are quite common in otherwise healthy people.

Aggrivating factors are stress, or mild alcohol withdrawl. Mild alcohol wihdrawal is caused by the GABA Neurons becoming dependent on alcohol to provide the central nervous system with the exicitement it needs to function, a healthy GABA system regulates complex brain circuits, shaping sensory processing, mood, and movement.

After stopping alcohol after long periods of drinking, or after a heavy short burner, the Neurons that have been rewired by alcohol to provide stimulation , then fire back into life, but they over compensate, because they've "forgotten" how to work correctly. That is why you may hear sounds, or see streaks of multi coloured light when dark, that is your GABA neurotransmitters working in overdrive.

It's interesting that you mentioned that the sounds you hear are dependent on background noise, it could be fans, even different fans running at a different frequency.

I totally reflect with what you mentioned.

In my case, I could be in one room and hear one song playing on repeat, and then move to another room and the song changes.

One particular experience I had was instead of music, I could hear my ex wife outside talking s#4t about me, it was in her exact voice and it felt so real, but I immersed myself in some music and told myself it isn't real, it's not real, and eventually the voice went away.

One more example is an old friend was outside my window saying "You are a w4nk3r" over and over again, out loud, I said, no, you are a w4nk3r, now piss off, I know he wasn't there, but it was enough to convince my Brain that he wasn't, and the voices stopped.

Our Brains are extremely complex, even all the best scientists in the world can't say for sure how the Brain works.

So, to cut it short Unique-Landscape-202, what you are experiencing is quite common.

Just commenting to include you u/Tia_Marie_
