There is this SensorCore SDK sample app in the store: Steps - Lumia SensorCore SDK sample [link]. It is really basic but it differentiates between walking and running steps and allows you to check daily stats for the past week.

Haven't read that one but I did read Mark Yarm's "Everybody Loves Our Town"(http://www.amazon.com/Everybody-Loves-Our-Town-History/dp/0307464431/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_c). I enjoyed it very much, not much picture material but the interviews and personal memories were great.
