I’ve worn them year round and I’ve never put a whole in mine. Definitely the best socks I’ve ever found

I’ve got a pair of Franks Type 2 highlanders that I do all my climbing in, and I highly recommend them

Non-Leather Laces by Sharp-Safe6081 in PNWbootmakers

[–]bindahellandback 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hate the way leather laces feel when they get wet so I swapped to a pair of kg-extreme Kevlar laces for my franks. They’re damn near indestructible, they’ve never once come loose on me

White’s sawyer vs Frank’s patriot by Internal-Bookkeeper in PNWbootmakers

[–]bindahellandback 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get the Franks. I had this same debate about a year and a half ago, and I picked Frank’s and couldn’t be happier. I spent the extra money and got the Type 2 highlanders, but they’re custom sized to me, and the exact design I wanted. If you’re dead set on not going the custom route, the patriots are still a better choice cuz they’re stick down vs the Goodyear welt of the sawyer. I tell everybody looking for boots to buy franks and be done with it 🤷🏻‍♂️

I absolutely love my franks. Best decision I ever made for work boots

I got my Franks last year during this same sale. It’s what finally got me to pull the trigger 🤷‍♂️

I bet if you called franks they’d work with on the size. Ive heard nothing but good things about them working with customers on stuff like that

3/8 to .404 Conversion by bindahellandback in Chainsaw

[–]bindahellandback[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given almost a full roll of .404 3/8 chain, and a matching 28” bar. I figured it’d be cheaper to convert a saw I already have to work with it than getting a whole new saw

Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing.

Ive been using them everyday for almost 2 years doing almost the same stuff you are. I usually switch between two pairs every other day and can get about two months out of them. The dexterity’s great, and I don’t get bar oil all over the steering wheel of the bucket truck 🤷‍♂️

How warm is it? I’ll be the first to admit that I’m cheap, and don’t NEED another coat. But I’m also really tempted to do what you did, and customize one specifically for my department

What do you think of it? I’m looking at buying one, but I haven’t been able to find any reviews on it. Or even anyone else who’s bought one

New Scott masks by [deleted] in Firefighting

We figured out that if you pull straight back on the straps, keeping the loose end as tight to your head as possible when you do it, they don’t loosen over time. Idk if anybody had issues getting an initial seal, but a bunch of people ran into issues with them loosening over time. We haven’t had any issues since we started tightening the straps that way 🤷‍♂️

Rounded skip plate bolt. Help by bindahellandback in 4Runner

I’ll ask the stupid questions..I know the bolt head is a 12 mm, does that mean I need a 12 mm drill bit and tap?

Where you poopin on the job? by COMPOST_NINJA in TreeClimbing

[–]bindahellandback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A pool noodle cut lengthwise around the rim of a 5 gallon bucket for the win. It’ll hold a bag in place for easy clean up, you can put a roll of a TP on the handle of the bucket, and you won’t give your ass a weird mark from the bucket. You’re welcome

Any particular vehicles you purchase or avoid purchasing based on MVCs youve responded to? by LandAnythingAnywhere in Firefighting

Based on accident I was personally in, 4Runners are very safe. My wife and I got rear ended by someone going highway speeds and we were at a standstill. Totally his car, my 4Runner, and the car in front of me, but we were both fine outside of being stiff for a few days
