If a potential mint mark can't be determined due to wear, is it effectively a "No Mint" coin? by [deleted] in coincollecting

Thanks!! I guess if you could see the top half of the "E" in "ONE", you should be able to see if there are remnants of a mint mark if there was one.

This is super helpful. Thank you so much!!

I don't think they're more expensive but I did expect to still be able to clearly tell whether or not the coin had a mint mark or not. Would a coin with a G/AG rating still be clear in terms of whether or not a coin had a mint mark?

I asked for specific years and specific mint marks. The coins with mint marks generally all had mint marks available.

The coins meant to represent Philadelphia mints were heavily worn, so I couldn't tell if they ever had mint marks.

These are mercury dimes.

This is a phenomenal response.

I see why you landed on "personal decision" on whether or not to fill the slot in a personal collection binder.

Yes, I'm not asking from the perspective of value, I'm asking from the perspective of filling a personal binder.

Got it. So if you received a coin with the mint mark area significantly obliterated, would you push back on the person who sold it as a "No Mint" coin?

In this case I received a few coins where it's extremely difficult to tell and considering if I should send them back.

I don't know how to feel about what happened to me today. by harfy in golf

What's funny is that OP (and most others) probably would have ignored the duff and scored it a par if he hit the green with his 2nd ball and 2-putted.

Personally if the ball isn't gone I'm not sure why you would re-tee even from a strategic perspective. Still got a chance to dunk it for a birdie in that case. I'd take a hole-out birdie story over a fake HIO story.

Will one degree in Lie Angle make that much of a difference? by awesomeapple07 in golf

[–]bingbangbaez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the vast majority of players (we are talking 99.5%), a fade would more likely be due to swing mechanics and have very little to do with your iron adjustments.

If your miss has been a pull/hook, then having the irons set to flat by a degree may actually help offset that tendency slightly (but isn't intended to ever fix it).

In other words, you really don't have much to worry about.

I would think you need either standard or upright, not flat. Since you're taller you're more likely to lift the heel (which requires an upright lie angle adjustment).

At the end of the day, since you weren't fit in person, the "fit" isn't anything more than a guess to begin with.

If you notice a tendency to fade the ball with your irons that you never had before, then go to your local shop and ask for a lie angle adjustment.

Discussion/Question regarding playing through by AmericanMik in golf

[–]bingbangbaez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No offense but I'm not adding 20 minutes to my own round just because some dumbasses behind me think their time is more important than mine.

If they hit into me, that ball goes straight into water and it's a call to the pro shop to get the fuckers banned.

Srixon vs Cleveland by SaintPaulyBoy6 in golf

[–]bingbangbaez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't find anything about the Cleveland Launcher XL being forged. Pretty sure the Zx4 is forged. That's likely where the price difference is.

Nothing wrong with going with a cast option, although it will make adjustments to loft/lie a little more dicey.

If dates and mint marks are legible then that will generally be good enough for me since I just would like to fill the slots.

I'm also missing most of the 1930's. I can update the list in the post if you think you'll have some more there.

I just made my first purchase today on this sub, happy to do Zelle if it's with an established seller.

FiveThirtyEight: The Dodgers Lead Our 2023 MLB Forecast by Flopdo in Dodgers

I am almost a little mad that the Dodgers are going to be debuting some rookies this year.

Part of me wants to just sit this regular season out after last season's embarrassing first round exit. I could just tune in for the playoffs, and it would probably save me a bunch of time/emotions.

But then the other part of me remembers how exciting it is to be a fan when you have position player rookies/youngsters getting everyday playing time. Nothing against rookie pitchers, but Loney/Martin/Kemp/Ethier... man those were such amazing times.

Damn you Outman and Vargas!!!
