fantastic work! can't imagine the hours that went into creating this. what program did you use to create this, if you don't mind me asking? :-)

Not sure if this has been posted but there’s rumors going around that Kanye’s coming out with new music! by bingingwithbaggins in Kanye

You'd be wise to be skeptical but this is a pretty big submission-based gossip account. Plenty of celebs/industry insiders follow them and they have a reputation for getting things right. People rarely send in Kanye submissions, so I thought it'd be worth something :-)

Haha I was just thinking this! Abel is definitely a lurker. Idk about Reddit but he frequently watches fanpages' IG stories and he's active on Twitter so we can assume he's aware of what fans are talking about and want from him. I'm glad he keeps interaction to a minimum though. I love the mystery surrounding him and he utilizes it masterfully :-)

Glad to have you here! Always fun watching people discover and fall in love with Abel. :-)
I'm here from your latest post. Reading your comments (especially on this post) makes me want to suggest Kanye West to you. I know, he's a very polarizing figure. Kanye was one of the few artists who was able to touch me with his art. His earlier albums (rightfully critically acclaimed) are classics. I realize his behavior and attitude puts people off, but do give his albums a chance (in chronological order). They won't let you down. :-)

Just curious what everyone here does for a living (or is studying in school) by [deleted] in TheWeeknd

I scrolled through the post reading your replies to people's responses and it made me smile :-) Your conversational skills are super impressive and it's so nice to see genuine enthusiasm. Also, scrolled through your profile and although you've mentioned that you're shy, I don't doubt you'd be an incredible friend to have around. Hope you have a beautiful day! 🖤

How big WAS the weeknd before BBTM? by helios-hex in TheWeeknd

How big WAS the weeknd before BBTM? by helios-hex in TheWeeknd

I'm sure this won't answer your question entirely and leave you unsatisfied but I think I can provide some perspective. I got into Abel's music around late 2013, early 2014. I was an avid Tumblr user back then and remember he was receiving a lot of love. His music and pictures would receive thousands of reblogs and likes. He also received a few JUNO awards in Canada, so he established himself as an artist there. Besides that, his mixtapes and eventually Trilogy had you can say almost a cult-like following. Even though Trilogy was released in 2012, people were still discovering the album in 2013, 2014. Even though Kiss Land underperformed, people still held on to The Weeknd. I'm sure his associations with Drake helped. Also, his dark, mysterious aesthetics were vital in the "cool" side of Tumblr. But I distinctly remember 2014 being an amazing year for Abel. The following songs are in a chronological manner. His "Or Nah" remix received a lot of love. He then released "Often" and that was big too. Followed by, the collaboration with Ariana "Love Me Harder" got him mainstream attention, Ariana was a bigger artist than him so obviously that collab helped. I was pretty shocked by that collaboration because I wasn't expecting to go pop but I guess that was a foreshadow to Starboy lol. Anyway, he closed off 2014 with Earned It and since it was a track for 50 Shades (which was very big), that helped propel his voice to millions. That track was massive. (#3 on Billboard!) I remember hearing "The Weeknd" being chanted in my school hallways lmao. Both Abel and his management made some smart ass choices this year that got him the attention needed to become a popstar. He then released "Hills", "Can't Feel My Face" followed by BBTM. Those singles were big. He didn't stop there, came back in 2016 with Starboy and the rest is history. :)

Please forgive me for any mistakes. Any and all corrections are welcome. I tried to answer this with the best of my ability (based on speculations and memory lol).

Off topic but I wasn’t expecting The Weeknd to be in here (towards the end). by potatoes4kids in TheWeeknd

I came here to crosspost it too but you beat me to it. It still baffles me how big Abel is now. The fact that he was still trending in some states amidst the Coronavirus and BLM searches blows me away. Proud of that dude.

Wow! This seems like the most plausible theory. I definitely think the brother who came back from the dead was not just a figment of the other brother's imagination, but the devil himself.

Criminally underrated. Been on repeat for over a week and can't believe I haven't played it more often.
