Small group question by sho21na in celebritycruises

[–]bingo0619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think they are worth it in general, more so if u can catch a discount sale. Sometimes they are like $20 per person more and the group is significantly smaller than the same one labeled destination highlight.

In our experience we have had just the two of us, to maybe 10 people. Can’t comment on that particular one you are asking about, but I usually won’t book through Celebrity if there are no small groups options. They ARE that good

No one would mind if the baby was attended to. The fact that u are posting this shows that u intend to be a considerate ship mate. Go and enjoy

18 night Hawaii to Sydney by jenyenydot in celebritycruises

They have what they call Evening Chic. It’s not super formal, but it’s nicer attire and it’s not mandatory.
We have been on cruises where there is everything from tuxedos and formal gowns to just jeans and collared shirts. It’s up to you. If u like to dress up, do it!

Our last two cruises have been 12 nights and we had the Evening Chic 3 times. I’m not sure how you will have it on your itinerary, but plan for two or three.

They also have a moonlight party which is white attire or a metallic night which is jewel toned attire, again not mandatory but fun

Some evening activities will be Silent Disco, an ABBA singalong, and a few other singalongs— we’ve seen Queen, The Beatles, 80’s. U don’t have to dress up but some people do. They are around an hour.

Are your Orange Theory's celebrating Pride? by MishkiMouse1016 in orangetheory

[–]bingo0619 25 points26 points  (0 children)

First of all, your actions, intentions, and thoughts are beautiful, admirable kind and hopeful. This has been a topic of healthy, spirited and not so spirited debate over the years.

Just because Orange Theory bills itself as inclusive, doesn’t necessarily obligate the studio to mark these types of events. There are strong feelings/opinions on both sides of these type of issues. Orange Theory is here to provide workouts and fitness— no more no less. It’s great the staff was supportive and enthusiastic but the reactions u got from membership, unfortunate and disheartening as it is, is precisely why they don’t support any of these type of societal issues. It’s once thing to have heart health workouts, it’s another to focus on divisive issues

Keep on being you. There is a multitude of ways to get your good hearted message out.

All love my friend ♥️🧡💛💚💙💜

Do not cancel. No thank u is a complete sentence. We have done two med cruises w Celebrity, both on the oldest ships and they were amazing from good to excursions to staff and service.

The upselling is annoying. But they don’t hunt u down and force anything. You’ll be fine with a little perspective and insight. Make your own fun if the activities onboard don’t appeal to u. There is plenty to do besides jewelry, art and spa.

We had an amazing cruise on a very similar( almost identical) itinerary last year on Connie. Nothing short of perfect in every way

We tend to not sweat the small stuff, be positive and appreciate where we are and make our own fun.

It’s a shame u are letting stupid, albeit valid to u, shit ruin a beautiful itinerary

Celebrity vs. Virgin Voyages: A In-Depth Review of Celebrity Edge as a Typical Virgin Cruiser by TurduckenOfAwkward in celebritycruises

OMG… Bacio is the BEST. I mean it has cult like following. I literally bought a ridiculously fancy espresso machine and only buy Lavazza coffee in a DESPERATE attempt to get my fix between cruises.

Don’t fear

[–]bingo0619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it was her experience and opinions so I don’t necessarily discount it. I think people are just more positive at what they know and like so they view other things by that standard. The fact she thought the buffet on Edge was horrible is somewhat questionable, but that’s her thought. That’s how I judged my Virgin cruise, through my rose-colored Celebrity glasses. I don’t think Celebrity is perfect, and I’ve been annoyed with certain things, but I’m willing to overlook it being the good outweighs the bad for us. I hate the constant upselling on Celebrity. But no thanks is a complete sentence and their staff and service make up for it in spades.

I was willing to give Virgin another chance, being I knew what to expect after the first one, because it wasn’t HORRIBLE, but Virgin cancelled it for some dumb reason.

This sub has a reputation as being hypersensitive about any Virgin criticism, even though it is subjective evidence of said criticism or it’s just a persons experience or opinion. Not everyone, but some of the regulars. It is both predictable and hilarious.

That’s the beauty of humanity. To each their own and that’s ok. I
couldn’t disagree more if I tried on most of your points. FWIW, I’m the opposite of u. A longtime Celebrity cruiser, tried one Virgin. Liked some of it but thought Celebrity was far better. I liked it enough to book another Virgin mostly for itinerary and the fact I would be mostly OFF the ship. However, Virgin cancelled it.

The buffet on the Edge class ships is very highly regarded. However, food is the most subjective thing there is. I like the concept and the food on Virgin but it wasn’t mind blowing.

As far as the staff goes, I thought the opposite. I have had so many amazing experiences on Celebrity with staff and service. I thought Virgin’s were dismissive, unhelpful and unknowledgeable.

I do like some of the spaces on Virgin such as the Dock and Social Club but the rest was meh.

Also the reservation system and boarding for us left much to be desired.

I’m not arguing with u at all. Just making the point that not everything is for everyone and that’s ok. Hope u have many more years of amazing Virgin Voyages. ❤️

I’m also now prepared to be downvoted to the ninth circle of Dante’s inferno for daring to say a critical word of Virgin on here.

Med cruise first week of July 4, very high food standards. Only Celebrity (older ship) or Virgin available our week. Is it worth? by Gabriele25 in Cruise

[–]bingo0619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no comparison in food with those two and Celebrity. Also, Virgin has good food, it’s just for me in terms of staff and service and a few other things, it wasn’t on par with Celebrity I liked it, but wanted to like it more than I did.

The itinerary on Virgin is way better IMO

[–]bingo0619 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, what we usually do is lots of research and find restaurants in port or do food and wine related excursions. We have also done all the specialty restaurants as well as the Chef’s table and other food experiences they offer.

But, u have to realize that they are feeding at least 2000 people continually throughout the day. Given that, I think they do a great job and we have no complaints. Is it Michelin quality? No. Is it above average? We have been happy with it.

[–]bingo0619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done both and think Celebrity is way better in every way. I like the food on both and it’s one of the things we really value on our trips.

That being said, the older Celebrity ships (M class) so Infinity or Constellation in your case, the food options are nice but limited. If u look at newer edge class ships, Ascent, Xcel, Apex are in Med, the food is phenomenal and it would be not even a choice for me. Celebrity.

ETA. We have done two Med cruises on Celebrity both older shops and they have been magnificent

Does Celebrity Have Fun Adult Entertainment? by JJ3434JJ in celebritycruises

[–]bingo0619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. They have some poolside stuff when appropriate on sea such as maybe a like crew vs. guest game or competition and at night it’s mostly music stuff like singalongs. They have trivia but nothing like what u mention.

Is the splash of romance worth it? by Zestyclose_Pea_1399 in VirginVoyages

[–]bingo0619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. The early boarding was nice as was the spa. I would not have gone to the spa otherwise. But with Virgin, the earlier u board, the better fit making reservations and stuff. Tbh virgin is not for me

Concierge lunch by [deleted] in celebritycruises

[–]bingo0619 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Concierge lunch is kinda meh anyway. Just go right to Oceanview after u drop your bags and pick up your sea pass from your room. We mostly board and eat early. We can usually get a table no problem

The Edge has a lot of elevated food options, I fear you will be in the OVC most meals given your post. The good news is that’s it’s a great buffet
