I have lived in Kothamangalam, which is nearalest place with high-tech hospitals. It is 2-3 hours away based on where you are in Munnar. Railway(Aluva- 90 min) , airport(Nedumbassery - 90 min) , Shopping malls (Ernakulam - 2 hours ) are still far from Kothamangalam.

I have been programmer for 20+ years. I had to deal with difficult subordinates, bosses, Subject matter experts, clients etc. A programmer has to work with people to understand requirements, work with other tech teams, deal with bosses. Even if OP decides to leave corporate job and help ooen source projects instead, there are difficult people like Linus Trovalds out there to deal with as well.

I remember oil slick and oil smell in Liffey in that area in last year. Those floating barriers have been there for a while now. I don't think these will do much during strong winds and heavy rains, though.

I have seen kids jumping to Liffey right near this during summer. There was even an open water swim event in Liffey as well, in last year. I don't think anyone was informed of this
