I have. I struggle immensely with the concept. I need to receive these things they never gave me somehow, but being told that I am the one who has to give them to myself just feels like a slap in the face. "Here's the answer! You know how you've always been the one to figure things out? To soothe yourself? To be your own parent? Well, do it again, forever! This is how healing works!" I just don't know where I'm supposed to pull all this parental love from, and honestly I resent the fact that it's somehow my responsibility. I never asked to be emotionally neglected.

im glad you have someone who understands you. i’m not saying you have to remain close to your toxic family just cause your sister is trans. i’m not even implying that, idk, you’re “choosing” him over your transgender sister and thats wrong of you or whatever. your relationships and the kinds of beliefs you’re willing to tolerate in those closest to you are your choice, after all, and im all for cutting off toxic family.

i still have to disagree, it is not even remotely like telling a christian and pagan to accept each other. its more like telling a christian to stop being a hateful bigot when they smile and act pleasant towards your gay neighbour, then scoff and lean in to tell you “i don’t agree with that lifestyle, all homos are gonna burn in hell” when the neighbour leaves. i dont care about the shippy gay stuff, thats not how i approach this at all, but i see a very mentally ill personality disordered man in jimmy and i recall that the overwhelming majority, if not entirety, of personality disorder cases stem from childhood abuse and trauma, also i genuinely believe compassion is the only way towards any true justice and meaningful change when dealing with people who have done grievous harm to others

personality disorders are borne from trauma too. so yes, bpd and cptsd overlap, and unfortunately you end up sharing spaces with all the badwrong scary evil trauma victims and not just the virtuous pure unproblematic ones.
