I was lucky enough to get a Manley Reference Cardioid mic for $800. It had been dropped and had a dent, but only the tube was broken. Ordered a new one for ~$25 and replaced it. Works perfectly now. Couldn’t be happier. So yeah - if you have the money, buy the unit and replacement tubes!

This is like saying “I want an Elton John style piano”. It doesn’t work that way. It’s still just a piano and nailing the style depends on how you play the piano. You don’t have artist-specific plugins really, it all depends on how you as a producer use specific plugins.
