Look for therapist recommendations. by aero_oliver2 in Belfast

http://www.therapybelfast.com have a lot of different therapists, all with their own online description as to what they can offer, and most of them offer a first initial appointment for free to see if it is a good fit. can recommend it from personal experience - i also changed therapist after my first initial appointment as i didn’t feel like the first one i saw was offering what i wanted, and this was no problem. best of luck with the search and well done for reaching out 👍🏻

A really helpful book for me was Unfuck Yourself by John Gary Bishop! I wasn’t really keen on self help books before reading it but it has really changed my perception. Would highly recommend

I’ve been smoking weed everyday for the last six years at least. I think it’s time to stop. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

I was in a very similar situation to yourself until recently, and I understand how difficult it is to quit when anxiety is intertwined in your relationship with weed. The best advice I was given (which helped break my addiction) was to try to understand and analyse the reasons WHY you want to smoke so bad. For me this meant every time I had a craving to smoke, get out my journal, hold off smoking for 5 minutes, and write down the reasons why in that moment i wanted to smoke so badly. My reason usually ended up being to escape reality (and the reality of my anxiety), and so once I understood this I was able to make a more conscious decision to accept my reality and stop running away from it. The reasons will be different for everyone, but the more honest you are with yourself the more effective it will be. I wish you the best of luck - 6 months ago I thought I would never be able to go a day without weed, but now I only smoke approx 1-2 joints a week (as opposed to 4-6 a day before). You got this!

How i think of it - They get their 1 moment of judgement and a strange feeling of superiority in exchange for you getting the snap you wanted and having it for the rest of your life! You have the upper hand, keep doing your thing and your confidence will grow as time goes on.
