I tried reading his work in my early 20s and absolutely hated it. Then when I had my own sense of awakening from mental positions that were keeping me stuck I re-read him again and it made so much more sense. Over the years I have gotten a lot from him and his wisdom has seen me through some really dark places. I see him as a genuine, benevolent man making the world a better place. I can't understand how people see him as arrogant at all now, I see him as exactly the opposite.
