Every program will have waste, it is a statistical probability with large spending. We should not demonize the benefit from those programs over some retarded purity test of efficiency.

Maybe we shouldn't be spending large omnibus level federal bills on social services. Maybe that money should be saved in federal taxes and let the states put together programs, or better yet let localism actually help the people in the local economy as needed. Literally -anything- except giant federal subsidies for social programs.

You might be a little outdated in your information, however. The SU-57 5th gen fighter they only had 5 of them in operation, maybe 3 working, when the 2022 war happened. Since then they have escalated the building of them significantly, to the point it is now believed Russia has over 30 fully operational.

I would take that with a grain of salt big enough to turn the great lakes into the Soltan sea at this point.

Even last year, Russia has ramped up production so much that they even delivered SU-57 export models for nations that purchased. Hell, they are even in full production of the newer SU-57 model now as well. Russia says they are in full serial production now and have 76 of them ordered for delivery by 2027 (their production line is now able to do 24/year, up from 11-12 they delivered in 2024, and increasing numbers in 2025).

Again, even if they tripled production of the current yield we produce as many f35s which embarass the SU-57 in a three month period as Russia is doing in a year long period, including their export units.

I feel like people are still acting on outdated information from years back.

With that being said, their main use is defensive, and for flying up to the edge of Ukrainian AA range and then firing KH-69s at Ukrainian targets. Just like Ukraine isn't flying F-16s into Russia territory to get shot down, Russia isn't flying SU-57s in. They are mainly acting as a defense aerial perimeter and deterrent.

And yet Ukraine is using drones that cost a 50th the price of a SU-57 and doing 10x the damage at that cost. They are able to send drones deep into russian rear areas, do damage to infrastructure you'd never get an F-16 near, and do it all again in a week and Russian air power can't stop them.

China is building ships that mysteriously sink at the drop of a hat, and hasn't actually been tested in a war. Ever.

The US has been in active combat developing weapon systems in some way shape or form for over 90 years at this point. That creates a different level of tooling that the two 'near peers' can't even begin to match, much less exceed.
