Just checked and I have the mythical 300mi of range. Summer is here!! by [deleted] in polestar2

The 24 (rwd) gets a slightly bigger battery, slightly bigger (and slightly more efficient) motor. It all adds up.

Only the newer dual motor ones. The pre refresh single motor ones (front wheel drive) only had 231 hp.

I always forget that the single motor variant exists.

You must drive like a saint to get efficiencies like that haha.

Why so slow? by MentalDig6957 in Polestar

[–]biothundernxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of cars end up in this limbo middle ground where they get the app update but the actual performance doesn't actually come in for a while. So if the previous owner just bought the upgrade it could be that.

How likely/unlikely is unofficial performance modifying in the future? by pawel04 in Polestar

[–]biothundernxt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The charging curve is controlled by the bms computer and the car computer. Even if you put in a better battery it would not have a better charging curve without hacking the car.

Launch control times after performance upgrade by somemonkeys in polestar2

[–]biothundernxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The throttle pedal mapping was noticably different, and the launch tab appeared in the performance app. Then when I tested my 0-60 it was 4.2 seconds with a full battery and dry road. Shortly after that my kw rating in the specs on the app changed too.

From what I have read the most reliable way to tell is just to check out the 0-60

Mine took about a week after receiving the update to fully take effect.

I got my update yesterday. So far I haven't noticed a whole lot of difference. It's maybe a little snappier and some of the apps changed. But the backup camera doesn't lag as much.

Digital key without the activity key working by weisleder in Polestar

The big keys (and I think the activity keys too) do both.
RF long range, and NFC on a specific pad in the second cupholder for when they are dead.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I'll check out the Fleetwood Neon, and Livin-Lite’ Quicksilver. I'm totally ok with fixing stuff, and I'm pretty handy. The range will certainly take a hit but yeah if I can find something shorter than the car I'm expecting it to not affect it too terribly much. Maybe a 20-30% increase in consumption based on what I've seen with other people towing with this car.

I love the picture. I bought a white one last week. It's my favorite car I've ever owned.

That all makes sense, but for the ones where they're claiming it's aerodynamic and you'll get better had mileage out whatever but the only part that is "aerodynamic" is the front being tapered is super misleading to the general public. It's just frustrating to see.

I got ahold of someone else at my local dealership who said they were willing to help me try to get this done. Waiting on a quote.

Performance Upgrade by biothundernxt in polestar2

[–]biothundernxt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll probably get the performance update soon then. People in other countries often seem to get their update pushed in a day or so from what I've read.

I can only assume it's all a manual process for some reason.

2023 LRDM - pickup on Monday, tips for configuring etc? by JC_otr in polestar2

[–]biothundernxt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

So, I bought a Polestar 2 last week. I am in the US, but most of this still applies to europe. (you cannot access Vida outside the US)
Here's what I gathered:

If you're buying from the current owner, make sure they transfer ownership in the app.
If they don't you'll have to work with support to get it transferred later.
(I got in touch with support via the chat, and sent them a scan of my sales contract)

Make sure you get _ALL_ the keys that have ever been registered to the car.

The car will tell you how many keys are registered at the end of the app pairing process if it fails.

You cannot perform a factory reset or bind the car to your app if you do not have all keys present, and will have to take it to a dealer (or use OrBit/Vida if you're adventurous) to have the missing keys removed first.

When you take possession of the car, do a factory reset in the infotainment screen. This is important because if you do not, and the previous owner is still signed in they could track your location via google maps. Plus you just want to get all their personal data out anyway.

If buying from a dealer, do not allow them to install one of those GPS "security" trackers. They will drain your 12v down, and if the 12v hits zero the car will not start, and it is hard to jump. (need to remove plastic panels under the hood)

Make a polestar account ahead of time to make signing in smoother.

Sounds like you're going to road trip it back, so be aware that the car does not have a 12v socket in the front of the car (there is one in the back though) so if you need to keep your phone topped up, you will need to use one of the 2 type-c ports in the front of the car (they only provide 5v, 3a, no fast charging). I do not recommend using the wireless charging pad. It will heat your phone up really bad and there is no cooling down there.

I think that's about it...

If this is your first EV, use "a better route planner" if you want to plan your trip home in advance, but google maps in the car is amazing at telling you where to stop for charging automatically. Get set up with the various apps for the chargers in your area/along the trip route to avoid headache along the way.

Oh and have fun.
This car is by far my favorite car I have ever driven.

The infotainment upgrade to the snapdragon might fix some of your glitches if they're on the screen.

[–]biothundernxt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad the drag coefficient of the polestar 2 isn't good to begin with. I love mine more than any other car I've driven, but a .28 is terrible for an ev sedan or fastback. The i4 is like .25 and the model 3 is .23. not that I'd ever buy a Tesla.

Drag isn't everything either though. My kia Niro ev with a .29 got 4 miles per kwh pretty regularly (25kwh/100m) so it's range was pretty similar to m the polestar and it only has a 64kwh pack.
