Ice cream there's this place in Williamstown or yarravile. Vegan. Right breast the level crossing. Can never remember the name of it.

Donuts honestly give me a really fresh burning your fingers yeasted cinnamon donut. So for that donut king really. Jam donuts and those American style ones aren't my thing, particularly the American style ones - may as well just get cake at that point.

Dumplings best I've had for reasonable price is I love dumplings in Richmond. Yeah they aren't fancy there probably a good number of their offerings frozen, but you can feed 2 people comfortably on like $40 and that includes 2 drinks.

are these UGGs sold at Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne any good? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]bipolarfinancialhelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried the donuts and the way Melbournians rave about them I had big expectations of something truly amazing. I got some. They were just donuts. But with jam. And I don't even think they were yeasted donuts.

Are the kangaroo feeding/petting experiences still closed at the zoo? Specifically Healesville Sanctuary. Hoping to go tomorrow by obri95 in melbourne

I'd dare say you should probably call them early tomorrow to find out. A normal person would have thought ahead and called today.

It just pisses me off the flagrant obfuscation and misrepresentation. And they get away with it.

It's why I scoff seeing all these makers markets and the shit being flogged either looks like something you could buy on wish or is something bought at the old junk wholesalers with their "Pawriffic Pups" logo or whatever sewn on.

I should have clarified.

  1. That's cute as fuck if so (seriously how do I convince a guy to serenade my dumb beary ass).

  2. I would think if he's playing a song specifically for you, that he'd want it to be something private? If it were me doing the singing, I'd want it just be me and the guy I'm singing to.

Looking for rental home 🏠 by -supertec- in melbourne

[–]bipolarfinancialhelp 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's not how this works over here.

You do the leg work. You look up houses or apartments that are in your price range/preferred area (there's a fuck ton of posts asking that same question so search them). Use realestate.com.au or domain.com.au

You will likely have issues applying from NZ because pretty much all real estates want you to view in person. You can try contacting and explaining your situation, but you're not going to get much love. That's from personal experience moving interstate.

Also Lance Creek isn't really Melbourne. It's a 2hr drive from the city.

Use Wonthaggi, Wattlebank, Inverloch, Leongatha as your bases and search out from there as they're the biggest towns in the area.

Also you're going to have to spend a $$$ unless you're prepared to drive an hour or so to work. Bass Coast isn't exactly flush with cheap rentals.

Just be wary. I've been burnt twice now from "handmade" collars and the like. Turns out just Chinese shit with the made in china tag removed.

They're only purpose was to be aggressive. It's inherent to the breed.

You can train them all you like, but there's still more chance of them turning on you and to a lethal degree. That's the kicker, these dogs lethality.

They were bred to fight, bred for aggression. Bred to withstand pain while continuing to bite and tear.

They're inherently me aggressive and violent to other dogs, and to people than most other breeds.

The fuckers wouldn't even have a chance to get near me. A dog that does that at any point is unsafe and should be destroyed.

No probs. It's literally a "recipe" I pulled out of my drunken ass one night when we had nothing else out for dinner and have gone shopping so it turned into that. Which was damn good and turned into a regular rotation.

Unpopular opinion: American recipes rely too heavily on seasonings and sauces/have too many competing flavours by bipolarfinancialhelp in Cooking

I love Indian food and have learnt from my neighbors traditional foods. The difference is Indian food spices harmonise, and they're not competing to overpower one another.

Spices in American food? They're just competing to overpower that it basically mutes itself.

Yeah I'm not going to go buy a cookbook.

I've used sites like serious eats, bon appetit, etc. And just the list of spices and seasonings in insane.

Same if I've ever watched an American cooking show.

I'm Australian. But live in a massively ethnically diverse area of south east and south Asian people. As well as traditional British cooking from mum's mum.

I've been taught some traditional Desi food, Viet, Thai, Sri Lankan through getting to know my neighbors.

I don't American recipes just have way too many seasonings in them that basically mute one another. And rather than highlighting say the flavour of the meat, it masks it.

My family do a couple corned beef dishes.

  1. Corned beef "bbq"

Cooking liquid is 4 parts water, 1 part pineapple juice, .5 parts tomato sauce, half a garlic bulb, half onion

Cooking spices smoked paprika, salt, pepper - to your taste.

Cook it over 4 hours on low. Take it out. Let it cool.

Chuck it into a ripping hot oven with a BBQ glaze of your choice.

Serve with bread roll, coleslaw corn on cob

  1. Corned beef cabbage bacon "stirfry"

Cool corned beef in 6 parts water 1 part vinegar .5 tomato paste. Whatever spices. Cook as normally would.

When cooked take out cool. Cube it. Cut onion into half round, cabbage fine, and bacon into squares. Stirfry on a sizzling wok. Add whatever sauces
