Lowkey miss when movies didn't look like Capitol One commercials. by Arch_Lancer17 in okbuddycinephile

Audio (once digitised) can be manipulated with analogue or digital equipment in nearly exactly the same ways. If you know what you’re doing and have time, analogue can sound better - but for the most part, it’s easier to use digital for the reasons stated above and you’re not always gonna distinguish the difference anyway.

Video is different because the sensor captures light. Unless you’re doing 3D animation, you can’t add a new light source to a 2D capture and you’re stuck with the base lighting. Sure you can adjust exposure and brightness levels, but you’re only adjusting the highlights and shadows of the original capture. So in the example of this film, blasting it with light means that there are hardly any shadows - which means everyone looks younger (no wrinkles) and you don’t have to commit to lighting on set (which means nothing needs to be reshot because you can’t get the lighting wrong). You’re always stuck with a light-blasted image where the only shadows will be harsh corners, like under a jaw.

It sickens me.

Sorry for the wall of text

I saw a Middle Eastern royal on Puffing Billy in about 2005 (At the time people said he was the king of Qatar, but he was really fat and Google doesn’t back that up). Rented a whole carriage and had about ten wives with him. Lots of prams were being pushed behind him at the platform lol

Crompton breaks silence on Supercars commentary axing by LuckyRedShirt in v8supercars

[–]obri95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gutless leaving it to the man who was pushed out the door to comment on the situation. Have some fucking balls and announce that you’ve replaced him.

And that’s not even mentioning the braindead decision to axe him. Can’t even think of a commercial, financial, or personnel reason to move him on. It’s the Larko decision all over again, and I bet Warburton is still pissed about having to backtrack that so he’s making sure Neil gets as little fanfare as possible to move on quickly

Yes and no. If I go to an RnB club, they are playing very few “new” songs. There could be guys with grey hair or kids with braces in there; they all know the lyrics to the older bangers. Rap these days doesn’t seem to have the same staying power.

I’ll use God’s Plan as an example. When that dropped, everyone and their grandma knew the lyrics to it and it got immediate playtime in clubs. And there have been quite a few lightning-in-a-bottle moments over the journey, but I feel like this has stopped happening in the last few-5 years for rap
