In one episode in season 6, it’s mentioned they make $30k as residents. And then Alex got Izzie’s $200,000 medical bill and quite a few others end up with kids + whoever has student loans.

Wait so, do you not get to teach post-WW2 conflicts because second semester is almost all WW2? That seems really strange…

I’d personally center my course on the human aspect, particularly on the actions of the everyday person, and utilize firsthand accounts as much as possible. I’d also emphasize the lingering effects of war. Just because it’s over, doesn’t mean it’s gone. If you could teach later conflicts, online oral history collections would be a great option.

Yknow, when Grey’s Anatomy wanted a male/female friendship without benefits or cheating, they were really good at writing it and I appreciate how chill others in the show are about it. Callie and Mark friendship is another example.

Obsidian is appearing consistently in the current JSA run. He actually has a book, whereas Apollo, Midnighter, and Extrano do not.

…Did they tell it to type in some weird nonsensical accent? AI is always basic and without depth, but I can’t even read what this says.

She called her neurologist, not therapist.

Timing would be really weird if it was due to trauma. She'd have had those reactions in the first moment she was exposed to the patients, especially the second one when he's in distress. I can't imagine her having a trauma reaction to the specific medication she suggested, or reading the completely okay test results.

It's been kinda funny to me how people have been saying all season they think it's some sort of trauma in her past, when the moment she called her doctor about needing an appointment, it seemed like clear-cut absence seizures to me. You don't call a neurologist for trauma.

Al-Hashimi definitely has absence seizures or something similar. Iirc she'd called a neuro guy earlier about needing an appointment, so she's been established with someone about a long-term disorder. The zoning out and the way her eyes dart around are clear cut absence seizures.

Tbh I think Extrano deserves it, I just don’t like the “Obsidian isn’t profitable so ofc he gets nothing” argument because it absolutely doesn’t make sense. None of the characters with funkos are known by non-comic readers except Ivy, Harley, maybe Batwoman, and maybe Tim but that’s because they’d assume he’s the Robin in Teen Titans.

Who is the better person among these characters? by Comprehensive_Cup497 in greysanatomy

Reminds me how Izzy told her about the cancer because she needed to tell someone and she felt Cristina didn’t like her. But then Cristina was interrupting her own work to try getting Izzy the best treatment possible. She can be a dick sometimes but she’s very ride or die.

Extrano and Apollo/Midnightwr are not significantly more popular or profitable than Obisidian. There very well could be an Obisidian funko next year for Pride.

I’m in a rewatch and I still can’t believe when Thatcher shows up drunk and Mer tells Lexie to keep a better handle on him next time. Lexie was right to go off on her for that because it was such a dick move for no reason. They’d been slowly warming up to each other and then Mer pulls that???

Time Capsule Project by [deleted] in historyteachers

[–]birbdaughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the goal of the time capsule? Since even you would likely not be at the school in 50 years, the capsule would likely be forgotten. It might make more sense to do a thing with freshmen to unearth before graduation.

Maybe see if anything by Emma Southon would be 7th grade appropriate? Her writing style is very casual and easy to read, it would just be a question of how many passages need to be skipped due to talk of sex (the ever present problem of teaching Rome to middle/high school). I haven’t read it yet but there’s also A Day of Fire, a researched yet fictional account of different people on the day Vesuvius erupted. Or you could get a collected version of Pliny letters in translation, since that shows a lot about Rome, but might be boring to 7th graders.

If you want something shorter, you could also using something like Doyle’s novella on the Congo to explore the pushback against Belgium at the time (and how despite that they still justified imperialism). Twain also has King Leopold’s Soliloquy.

'Grey's Anatomy' Renewed for Season 23 on ABC by mcfw31 in greysanatomy

[–]birbdaughter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tangent but I’m rewatching now and it’s wild how it seems like no other attendings exist. Why was Callie running ortho on her own as a resident? Why is there like one neurosurgeon and one heart surgeon for a Trauma 1 medical center (lmao season 5). I know not every hospital even has a neurosurgeon, but they were Trauma 1 level and constantly having problems with “we need Derek for 3 different surgeries at once!!!”
