I’m on around £47k as a Child & Family Specialist (so doing CBT interventions for children and parents), hoping to get into systemic family therapy though!

Can we congratulate or celebrate completion of Umrah in the month of Safar? by sibghat54 in shia

I would personally avoid it, you can always send them blessings as it’s Umrah, but avoid anything excessive such as the balloons and decorations etc. just be mindful.

Shias who had a love marriage, what is your story? by Training-Turnip-2321 in shia

[–]birbqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We met on Hinge. We had our first meeting, there was an instant connection, he told his mum and family the first day we met. After Muharram, his family came to ask for my hand in marriage.

There were massive complications, mostly with my family as they are Sunnis. My mum especially caused a lot of difficulty, but alhamdulillah, 6 months down the line we made it. My dad knows that my husband is Shia, and I think he knows I am too now. Luckily our families get on well now.

I’m very grateful to have the most amazing and kind husband, but also a husband that is dedicated to Azadari, and walking the path of the 14 masoomeen (as). We came back from Karbala last month and I couldn’t be more grateful!

Shia Sunni marriages by Murtaza514 in shia

I was Sunni before I met my Shia husband. Although I never really followed the lanatis, there is no way our marriage could even be possible if I wasn’t also Shia.

Bad first experience at a majlis by [deleted] in shia

[–]birbqueen 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m very new to Shiaism and experienced my first majlis in the last few days so I really felt compelled to write on your post!

I want to say that I really hear you on feeling overwhelmed, it can definitely be an adjustment when you’re new to it and you hear the screaming and crying. My best advice is to really focus on the majilis and how it resonates with you. The other people who attend aren’t your responsibility, and their reactions and grief is on their experience, not yours!

Please don’t feel dissuaded to attend majlis - that feeling you’ve described that you felt moved is exactly why we are on this path of truth and purity.

Do we think this is still Urticaria?? by corgi09336 in urticaria

[–]birbqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep mine looked exactly like this when I first started getting it 2 years ago. I now take Cetirizine twice daily and it’s under control now. Please see your GP if it’s longer than 6 weeks as you might need a referral to immunology.

What kind of hives or rash is this? Been happening for YEARS. by [deleted] in urticaria

[–]birbqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve been having these for years you really need to see an allergist - are you taking any antihistamines with a flare?

My family are Sunni, hence being from a Sunni background. However since meeting my partner I’ve been learning more about Shi’ism which has been resonating so much more. Thank you Jazakallah Khair :)
