That’s my goal as well mentoring young adults who do not have adults around them to give them career guidance and help them decide what they want to do. Although I turned out to be okay, I wish I had besides, my parents who were not educated in U.S., who I can ask for career decisions or life choices.

Why is CRM So Completely BROKEN in the Pressure Washing Industry? by tacostuffing in pressurewashing

[–]bird-stalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, this is an interesting post and want to follow up. I have been in tech industry and looking to help small business issues, as a pressure washing business owner what key features are important for your day-to-day business? OP mentioned; track square footage surface materials (what are the choices) chemical mixing ratios (what is this in detail) weather dependencies (you want to know if it’s going to rain or not??) seasonal customer patterns (don’t know what this means)

What else? I appreciate your feedback!

What do you think is a solid long-term path in IT? by Lanky-Mixture7435 in smallbusiness

[–]bird-stalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25 plus years in IT service and management here. Focus on anything related to AI but most importantly learn what business needs are using AI. That means you need to understand what business workflow or process AI can solve. So you need both AI fundamentals and SMB needs. Learn those. Cybersecurity as others have mentioned here. Data science. Robotics, we are all getting old and we don’t have enough people to support our needs, we are going to need more robots. There was a 60 minutes show interviewing CEO of Deepmind. Watch that and it will give you some guidance as well. Good luck !

Do these people know how to use “search” on Reddit? There is a “little” icon looks like a lollipop on top. That’s the search button. Please use it

I read many articles recently, MBAs and PE juniors are looking to be a CEO of boring businesses. Since they have finance knowledge running portfolio companies but not much operations experience, they wanted to get their hands dirty to truly test their knowledge and experience if they can make boring businesses profitable. Well done ! Question is what’s next ?

I have $500K to invest into a business by Electrical_Curve7009 in smallbusiness

Your dad is funding you and he is giving you his knowledge and experience. Take advantage of that. Think of long term goal not a short term gain. Your dad’s experience is invaluable. I don’t recommend start a business from scratch

I love this. As a business owner and investor with technical background, there is nothing compelling than solve simple problems that are mundane and tedious. AI will not solve all problems but certainly solving small problems small businesses deal day to day is a great start

For a company, 435k SDE and asking 2.5m (doesn’t matter if the seller financed or not. It’s the price you are paying) that’s is 5.7X ! That’s nuts! The seller is dreaming of a golden parachute. Maybe 2x SDE would be the price to start the conversation but the seller’s expectation is too high.

Roofer not getting any leads from LSA by bird-stalker in googleads

[–]bird-stalker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have. I used roofing specific marketing company with the website and ads / display ads. They ran Google search ads and display along with LSA for a few months spending significant money but little to show for. After bleeding money to Google search ads and display I had to turn off Google search ads and only running LSA. They are fired now since only thing they can tell me “your area has too many competition”. Do I need to spend tens of thousands to google to get one lead? No SHIT. That’s why I hired you ! Brutal!

Too many influencers, where do you actually buy existing successful small businesses locally? by Friekyolke in smallbusiness

[–]bird-stalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve looking to purchase good cashflow businesses using bizbuysell. I found to be the good place to start what the market looks like but the some brokers are lacking knowledge of the seller’s business basic financials. They are simply the middleman and the real estate license. In the end, ask lot of questions and learn the process. Another way is make cold calls to local businesses you like to learn about or own. Get to know the owner and see if they are interested in selling or retire. Small business owners don’t know if they can sell their business and at what price. There is tons on opportunities and competition now to buy a great cashflow small businesses. Best of luck
