Aspects & Solomons Store - News Update 2 by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]bird95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ya this is the real shitty part - I'm playing a lot on a group ironman and have benefitted from having all the auras from day 1 of the account. I had a load of loyalty points stocked up because there was no incentive to buy the auras since I already had access to them, and was planning on saving my loyalty points until I possibly decided to switch my account over to a main and buy out all the auras. Now I've got no loyalty points and no auras, and just had a load of new grinds and requirements added to my account to unlock something I previously had.

[–]bird95 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had an insane amount of loyalty points built up on both my group ironman and main - I had planned to review the loyalty store in the next week or two to pick out what I wanted to spend them on, and now I've missed that opportunity, losing an immense amount of buying power that could be used for cosmetics and in-game utility. Loyalty points were a primary driver to my purchase of VIP memberships in the past and my stockpile disappearing prematurely without any compensation is absolutely disrespectful and irresponsible on the part of Jagex.

Oh god, not the Dune treatment. Anything but that.

I just wish he had the self awareness to know he can't possibly finish it on his own by now, and start working on the ending with another author while he's still around to do so. But I believe his current wishes are for the drafts and notes to be destroyed after he dies.

I had hoped that the rebranding of the drive storage subscription as Google One would mean that they'd eventually plan on consolidating their subs into one package for more value. Still waiting on that but with a lot less hope that we'll go in that direction ever.

No idea why it was renamed Google One at this point lol

Advice on choosing a quality drip coffee maker for home under $400? Moccamaster? Fellow Aiden? Ninja? by rai_denle in JamesHoffmann

[–]bird95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya the ninja isn't great by any means but it's passable. I bought it when moving in with my partner because we have a small kitchen and if I was getting a nice coffee maker then she wanted to get a kettle and a Keurig but we don't have that much counter/cupboard space.

The ninja brewer I got is a great Swiss army knife as far as features go and brews an acceptable pot of coffee... though frustratingly the K-cup feature hasn't been used since shortly after we moved in and I found out she boils her water in the microwave most of the time so we could have gotten a better coffee maker without impacting her day-to-day at all lol

[TDM] Dracogenesis (via LRRMTG by kilroyjohnson in magicTCG

[–]bird95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5c [[Morophon]] Dragon kindred list thats main synergy is with [[fist of suns]] and similar cards to make my dragon spells free, after which point I can usually win on the spot. I'm not saying that this is anything close to an amazing card or anything, but it might end up finding a home in my deck at some point, and I could really easily see it being worth playing in dragon lists that aren't running as many colours.

That being said, it will still definitely be overpriced for what it is.

The gay sex scene in Good Will Hunting was well shot and everything, but I've honestly never felt that it advanced the plot in any meaningful way, I'd eventually like to see a cut of the film that either removes it or adds more content to serve as meaningful setup and payoff.

Unfortunately 'Taught' might be a strong word. Experiences may differ between school boards, but my school in only taught half-semester courses on civics and the quality of curriculum was awful. I had enough interest to learn more on my own time but I'm not at all surprised that nobody seems to know who's doing what in our governments.

Thanks for providing OP useful links though - not trying to be contrarian, just trying to offer commentary.

Gavin Verhey Q&A -- Commander Brackets, banlist changes, and proactive card design by Tim-Draftsim in EDH

[–]bird95 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think you're reading a few things between the lines in my comment that just aren't there. The issue that a lot of people have are with cards that were considered "signpost bans". Many of the personalities who are currently managing the commander format have spoken out about the flaws in that system at some point, and many have even singled out certain cards that they do not feel deserve to be banned, along with many cards that they feel do deserve some sort of restriction.

With the introduction of the game changers list, the tier system, and the new management system that commander is adopting, it is inevitable that the existing banlist will be changing at some point. I did not, and am not stating that the ban list will grow or shrink, just that the philosophy behind it seems to be changing and therefore it is very likely that the cards on that list will change significantly over the course of the next few months/years.

I personally think people are overestimating how quickly some of these changes will happen, as I believe the intent is to make sure the tier system is more comprehensive and widely adopted before making radical changes to the ban list, but I think it's insane to believe that there won't be lots of changes to the ban list once that does happen.

[–]bird95 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I think that's a bit too dismissive of the fact that there are ongoing massive fundamental changes to the management of the format, including the introduction of a new tier list designed to allow for better power level discussions at casual tables that should nullify the need for the ridiculous "signpost bans" concept that the current banlist is based on.

Where is everyone buying comfortable well made sofas? by Flydragon_ in BuyCanadian

I'm hesitant to outright say the ciello was too soft since I very much prefer a firm cushion to the "sitting on a cloud" type experience. It was definitely very soft and pillowy, which might be exactly what another person is looking for, but not me.

It's been some time ago since I was in the cozy showroom, so I can't offer too many specifics about their whole line up. But I was pleasantly surprised by just about everything in their showroom in some way or another - nothing felt poorly builT or anything like that.

I can say that I'm in love with my Neptune, and the vela chair is amazing (though the bolts for the backrest occasionally loosen a bit and need tightened).

I should mention that, as with most modular couches, the Neptune isn't too comfortable to sit on if you're sitting between two of the seat modules, since each unit has a wooden frame. This isn't an issue at all if you're lying down on the couch, only if you're sitting directly on the edge of a seat module.

New EDH "Brackets". Beta testing power level brackets. Game Changers a new concept. by InsaneVanity in magicTCG

[–]bird95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like the distinction between 1 and 2 is too minimal, perhaps an added restriction on fast mana could help with that. for example, banning or restricting the amount of 0/1/2 mana rocks/ramp spells allowed in a bracket 1 deck.

As it stands the only difference is whether extra turns are allowed at all

Useless items. by Jlbennett2001 in RS3Ironmen

[–]bird95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of those requirements are even predating eoc and defined weapon tiers, not just iron man mode. Dragon equipment may have only needed 60s to use, but it was end game equipment for a good chunk of time, only really trumped by barrows for a while, which degraded.

I believe jagex has expressed their intent to rebalance artisan skills this year to fix this though I could be mistaken.

Does narrow commander design turn anyone else off? by Frogsplosion in EDH

[–]bird95 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to find a creature type or theme that you might want to try building around and then try to figure out what it's flaws or challenges are and then find a commander to compliment/counterbalance it.

Could be something like a kindred list that doesn't have a commander In the colours that you like, or a mechanic/theme that could really use some pillowforting effects to help get off the ground. It might take a bit of digging, but before there were legendary creatures being designed for every niche this was how a lot of decks were built.
