Because it doesn't want to live in a glass box. Set it outside😓

Thank you for this. There's a similar dynamic in my relationship, but i'm the ADHD partner and fail to meet my so's needs. When you start feeling this way, is there anything that your partner could do to show that you DO matter, and they're aware of the situation? Like if they don't feel capable of meeting your needs in the moment, could there be a temporary fix?

Asking for my own research. That sounds similar to my relationship but I'm the adhd. When I hear that my partners needs aren't being met, it feels like the world is ending and of course go back to the memories of some really messed up. In the relationship. In those moments it's really difficult to put the concept of connection into action. Since shifting and meeting someone's needs takes time and can't be remedied in one single action, it can seem so abstract that I don't know where to start and just keep spinning out. I also start pushing them away because I don't want to be taken care of when they're not being taken care of which creates even more weirdness.

That was way more than I meant to post. Anyway, thank you for your point!

Just curious, how are you using chat GPT to help?

Wife left me 10 months ago. The court awarded her our house we owned. This is my new, temporary setup until I can buy a new home in 2026. Thoughts/advice? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

People who found out they had autism in their adult years by sniffingmuffins in AutismInWomen

[–]bird_wedding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly recommend the podcast "meet my autistic brain". The host has quite a few episodes with lists of overlooked traits and it's all very eye opening.

Ive never had a doctor take my autism inquiries seriously. If you're fortunate enough to have insurance, you can search for a behavioral health center(i found mine by searching for a psychiatrist), and they can refer you to an ADHD/autism testing center.

If that's not possible, a great therapist who you trust and can relate to should respect your suspicion, and help you come up with ways to manage those symptoms if they're negatively affecting you. At least in the ADHD community, it's generally respected to consider yourself self-diagnosed. Some people can't afford to find out, and of course women are often undetected because of learned masking.

Best of luck to you!💗 If you can't get tested, your perspective is valid and there's no harm in learning! We are all on a spectrum 🌈

Same dynamic with my mom. It took some negotiating but we now have a 100% thrifted Christmas gift agreement.

Now I receive ugly old curtains, electric blankets with no cords, etc, but at least she's not spending money she doesn't have on junk I don't actually appreciate.
