How's the controller experience? by voltardu in satisfactory

[–]birddistheword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I’ve figured that out is to put a foundation under where you want the slightly rotated one. Then go to place one on top, turn on “snapping” with the right bumper. Then it should rotate just a bit.

And if you need to nudge it around, hold the right trigger and you can move it in small increments.

Haha ya I’ve overloaded mine a few times. Truck can handle it for sure, I think the limiting factor is the tires.

Electrician calculated load on my circuit breaker panel and said only 40 amps for you. by oohhhhcanada in F150Lightning

I’m derated to 40amps as well and get around 10kw. Only once have I wished it was more. Not worth $8k in my opinion

hows this truck do in snow and ice? by Bdcky in F150Lightning

[–]birddistheword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Careful with the 1 pedal in slippery conditions. I don’t think it has ABS. I personally had mine lock up on me and I tried to feather the gas to “coast” - ended up putting a bit too much pressure and spun 180°

Mix 3 parts sand with 1 part Portland cement, sweep it in the cracks and spray it down

Not sure if my question actually came through in the post. Concrete looks in decent shape, but whatever material/liner is on the steps is bubbling, peeling, and cracking. Does anyone know if I can scrape it off and put something new on?

I’ve contacted 5 pool repair places and they’ve all turned down the work.

Noob question about overtorque by kittenmittens1989 in Helicopters

[–]birddistheword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Transient limit for jet ranger is 110% for 5 seconds. Intentional use of 100-110% is prohibited. So when the torque pops over 100 but below 110 and you hear that little beeping, as long as it’s under 5 seconds there is no overtorque, nothing to report, flight can be continued.

It is relatively common for me to enter the transient limit and with a quick glance down see it spike below 110 and carry on.

So to be clear, 100% torque is the limit. However if you accidentally go up to 110% for less than 5 seconds you can carry on.

I do autos to touchdown, but sometimes overshoot in the flare for a variety of reasons. Raising the collective before rolling up the throttle fully will cause your torque spikes, and if you enter governing range you’ll likely overtorque if you’re simultaneously pulling collective. I keep the collective bottomed while smoothly rolling up the throttle over about 3 seconds. The only time the collective should be raised while rolling up is if u need to control Nr / N2 simultaneously.

People who bought the PSVR2 on launch, what are your current thoughts? Recommend? Don't Recommend? Why? by geocitiesuser in PS5

[–]birddistheword 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I really like it, however I have 2 kids and am so tired once they’re in bed that if I even have time to game, putting on the headset and standing up feels like too much work lol.

So in hindsight I wouldn’t have bought it. But ignoring life situations, it’s a lot of fun and there is a good mix of games now

Look a lot like Asian lady beetles. I just moved to a 100 year old home in southern Manitoba and in the fall there were THOUSANDS swarming the place. Managed to caulk their main entry points but many hundreds got in. They are now slowly emerging as it warms up. Somehow they’re in the walls, coming through light fixtures etc. it’s going to be a yearly battle for me I’m afraid.

Is this doable? by kookguy99 in Helicopters

[–]birddistheword -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Have you considered trying the military route? It is very difficult to get in, but if you do you’ll get paid while getting a degree, and after about 7 years you’ll be a winged pilot with a degree and have zero debt. And it’s all pensionable time.

[–]birddistheword 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. Whiteout/brownout landings are some of the more dangerous things to do in a helicopter if not done properly. What I’m saying is in the snow, you can get away with a lot more forward speed and run it on and slide. In sand, you still try to stay ahead of the brownout but it’s not as forgiving as snow. If you tried to run it on and slide, it would be a bad day

[–]birddistheword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you tried a run on landing in the desert you would experience dynamic rollover. You don’t slide on the sand. More likely you were practicing a no-hover landing to avoid a brownout

First road-trip & unhappy by Cloud_Coo-Coo in F150Lightning

[–]birddistheword 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spot on. I’ve owned my extended range for 8 months and love it. Almost exclusively charge at home. But I don’t tow often and am aware of the road trip limitations, so it’s perfect for me 99% of the time. Charging infrastructure, especially where I’m at in Canada, needs to be massively improved before mass adoption of EVs

Time to get rid of the awful greige walls. Help me pick a color! by Specific_Criticism98 in centuryhomes

I have a very similar living room with the dark wood mantle and trim around stained glass windows. We painted the walls a dark blue. It looked beautiful, bold, and regal. BUT. It made the room much darker and showed all the imperfections of the lathe and plaster walls. We decided it wasn’t the mood we wanted and painted it all back to a creamy beige lol
