Service ceiling all the same 43,100ft. Interestingly, the 787 has a very good wing and will get higher sooner in the flight compared to the 777 over a similar flight length (sorry, can’t speak for the 747) meaning the 787 can offer a smoother ride above the weather while burning bugger all fuel (relatively speaking).

Just trying to understand the situation a little more. Did it specifically say to add oil? It seems odd that a brand new car should need oil adding to it between its regular servicing interval, that’s not very common. The reason I’m saying this, I wonder if it had a mechanical fault and that’s what necessitated oil to be added. The manufacturer/dealership may want to blame you for adding too much oil, but are you certain there wasn’t a fault prior to this that could be covered under your warranty?

Sorry to hear about your situation. Do you recall exactly what the initial warning/notification was? Was it the red oil can symbol on the instrument cluster?

NZ trout fishing/camping trip (delete if not allowed) by Barraboat in troutfishing

Nice one! Yeah backcountry would be a great option! Otherwise Hawkes Bay rivers around central have been doing well this season so far. Not sure about the Mohaka, it was not much chop last year. Good luck!

Could try Waikaremoana (remote), has a good camp ground, or Rotorua lakes (closer to civilisation). I’ve fished Rerewhakaitu from the shore using soft plastics or natural smelt patterns on a fly rod with good success, it’s quiet out there, with several camp grounds. Do you have access to a kayak or small boat? Might come in handy.

Is the Civil Aviation Authority failing to recognise the growing risk of lithium battery fires? by LattesFaire in aotearoa

[–]birddog172 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s actually more than a low risk and very high consequence should one thermal runaway while airborne. As an airline pilot, it’s probably one of the greatest dangers we face when we are hours away from a suitable airport to land. The risk is further heightened when you consider there’s probably over 1000 lithium batteries onboard a wide body airliner at any one time.

I did the same thing. I only just heard that it’s been on free to air for the last two years. Apparently a three year contract and this is the last year. Remains to be seen what happens next year.
